:wtf: I woke up this morning and my car wouldn't start. Called Road side assistance to get car to dealer.(waited 2 hours for tow truck) Dealer said the battery was dead. I have 3000 miles on the car. I drove it yesterday and I had no problems starting the car. I get home before the sun goes down so don't say I left the lights on. I live in South Florida so it wasn't a cold weather issue.
I told the dealer if it happens 2 more times, I go lemon law. Maybe it will happen just when the new P5 gets a turbo?

Anyway...just wanted to rant...they did my first service and tire rotation free of charge.... I still love the car.

Have your dealer check the altenator ,to see if it working correctly. I had to get mine replaced as it was onlt putting out 12.5 volts. My dealer hooked up a dianostic computer to find the fault.

Yeah, but not normal

It's a man made machine and it's made up of thousands of parts. Even a 6 sigma program could let a bum battery or alternator slip through and I'm sure no car company is using that level of quality control. It could be caused by any one of several things, alternator, battery, short somewhere that just occured. Things like that can happen with even a new car. I once had a water pump go in a Civic with 1,800 miles on it and my Saturn puked a transaxle sensor at less than 3,000 miles. Yeah, it was an inconvience, but the important thing is: did the dealer's service dept. properly diagnose it and fix it?

Also, I think the lemon law threat was uncalled for, unless the dealer has screwed up other warranty work on your car. All it does is mark you as someone with a 'tude and they will likely treat you accordingly in the future. I've worked with customers all of my career and I can tell you that a chip on the shoulder usually gets you a few places farther back in line. Jim

I agree with Jim, as long as the service dept. was professional and helped you as is expected, that's all we can ask!
I only had 15 miles on mine and had to take it back in for the alligment!
I was pissed at the time (Like GNsP5) afterall no one wants to hear their new car is already in the shop! Especially since the rental car they gave me was a CHEVY! - AARRRGGGHHH!!

LOL!

Anyway, be thankful you have the breakdown service - OK so it was a couple of hours, it was free!
And it was fixed - and checked - for free! AND (!) they gave you that free service!

Sounds like excellent customer service to me!

hey GNsPR5 . sorry for my stupidness but whats a lenon law .

I believe the Lenon Law goes something like; if I play too many Beatles CD's in my car it will break down on some untraveled road in the middle of nowhere, in the dead of winter in 5 feet of snow with temperatures approaching absolute Zero....and Yoko Ono will appear naked in front of me screaming "lape!!! lape!!!"

LOL

Actually guys, I am over the problem with my car. I think I got excellent service from the dealer. Yes the breakdown service was free, yes they fixed everything free of charge. It just pains me to think that my new car had a problem so early in it's short life... I hope it never has a problem again. Thanks for the response folks. I deserved some flaming for that...

Day 2...no problems with car. Thank you Mazda!!!! Me and my lemon law....LOL!!!

I will answer you.....the LEMON LAW....its a federal law....actually called the Magnuson-Moss Warranty act.

the readers digest version....IF you have a specific problem with your car...and you take it in to have the dealer fix it under warranty.....and it breaks again...and again....the same thing....

they only get THREE tries to get it right....then you can file paperwork to have the car declared a LEMON and the dealer has a few options....such as give you a new car...or just buy it back, as in refund......something along those lines.....

if it happens again. ask them to check the fusible links (i believe thats what it was called. ill pull my paperwork when i get home) but i had the same problem.. where sometimes the car would take forever to get enough power to start or the remote door thing wouldnt open.. tehy fixed it .. it works great now.. just a heads up -=)

CXheck out THEMAN's web site. He has a list of all the recalls on the car. One was for an alternator irregularity that you may be seeing.

It also depends on what state you're in. If you read the warranty book provided with your new vehicle, it states the lemon law for every state in the U.S. (If you're in Canada, that might be different.)
