Does the Mazdaspeed comes with Block heater or do you have to order and install one as a dealer accessory

depends where you live... just ask the dealer. All cars here come with one... having a block heater in our weather is not even an option. Yes, the Mazdaspeeds too......... they are installed at the dealer. (Edmonton Canada.)

IT actual;ly screws into the block and heats the coolant, which circulates via convection (hot stuff rises, cool stuff falls) to heat the block. I want one but don't have one. It's more important for a MSP because you want that oil nice and warm and flowy when the turb spools up... I'm getting one SOON.

soon? isnt winter almost over?

...depends... don't tell Ma Nature, but it snowed here last week!!!

I talked to the dealership, they told me about $35 for the part plus 1.5 hours of labor (at $96/hour) to install. They then said "Why would you want a block heater in NJ?" Hey - with a turbo I want that oil nice and warm and flowy when I start this puppy up on a cold morning...

Ping: use synthetic oil instead and save your money. Synthetic flows much better in the cold than dino juice.

I have not seen a block heater on my MSP in Ontario....where is it ?....on my jeep there was a cable that plugged into a outlet...never used it thou only noticed it recently....I have not seen a cable of this type in the msp

Thanks, MSP Pro - will do (once I hit 1000 miles... :D want to get those rings nice and seated... this breaking in period is KILLING me...)

Oliver2000 trace that cable back to see where it goes before plugging it in. Chances are it's a block heater (if the cable attaches to the "block" that's probably it) but if you haven't used it you'll want to be sure the wiring is in good shape and that it's not just a spare extension cord someone left in there!

I have owned the jeep since new....really do not care as I am selling it anyway.....as for one on the msp I am not 100 % that ALL canadian speeds have one....does not look like I have one and I am in Canada

I don't know about a block heater. But owning a MAZDASPEED is almost a sure guarantee of a BLOCK PARTY!!!!!!!!!!! (lol) (lol) (lol)
