Does my 2025 CX-5 Have Cylinder Deactivation?

All 2025 CX5s with the 2.5L NA have it

not on the select models

Just out of curiosity: why is it so important to know this detail? My car is 2020 edition and it has "cd" and I don't care, I guess? I had no idea about this "problem" until I read about it on this forum. Why? I have a car with cylinder deactivation. What now? How is this information going to change my daily interaction with the car?

I don't want to sound aggressive with this post, I am genuinely curious.

My 2020 GT suffered a transmission failure that was related to having cylinder deactivation. The transmission was replaced under warranty. It's not a common failure but it does happen. Also there are failures with heads that are associated with CD. Another big ticket repair.

Hello, brand new here…
Within the last week I bought a new 2025 CX-5 Signature. I don’t have an iStop button, the eighth character of my VIN is Y, and my window sticker doesn’t indicate cylinder deactivation. I am in the southeastern United States.
Hopefully I don’t have cylinder deactivation. My wife’s car is a 2019 Mazda6 Signature. We gravitated towards Mazda because they didn’t have start/stop engines, cylinder deactivation, CVT transmissions, etc…
