does anyone else hate the word rims?

So I guess you all like talking about me behind my back...(sad1)

nothing wrong with using "redrims" if you mean one of these ;) (because the rims of the wheels are red)

i guess, since i used to do bmx before i got my license, rims were the actual rim of the wheel. then once it had a hub, and was spoked, it was a wheel.

As a cyclist, I make the same association. The rim is part of the wheel. If I say I damaged one of the rims on my car, you won't find damage on the face of the wheel, it will be damage on the rim, like you'd get from hitting a curb or hitting a pothole without enough air in the tire. Simple enough to me.

irregardless
an erroneous word that, etymologically, means the exact opposite of what it is used to express, attested in non-standard writing from 1912, probably a blend of irrespective and regardless. Perhaps inspired by the double negative used as an emphatic.

(thinkbeer
Hehe, yeah we already determined that in TLT, I was just using it b/c it was a response to Jared, hehe. :p

Rims does not bother me, What annoys the s*** out of me is when somebody calls nitrous oxide "NOS". Alot of people that see my bottle say OMG man you have NOS.

I call wheels rims all the time, actually all the time. Any aftermarket rims that is.

That reminds me of when people say they need to "Xerox something." It's "copy", dumb f*cks...(hand)

Yeah, I work for Xerox...

It is what it is. Yea...just like when people talk about searching for something on the internet they say, "Goggle it." Or how about "HIDS" or pronounced "H.I.Deez". I'm not going into what Apple has done to the world.

Google probably also makes people forget how to spell "googol"

The rim is part of the wheel.
Auctually..This is only true of multi-piece wheels...A cast wheel does not have a rim. Most OEM wheels are cast..Unless of course you own a high end luxury car with some nice "Rims" on it.(BMW,Lexus,Merc-Benz,Etc...)

Now ponder on that one.

not really. it's the rim whether or not it is the same piece of metal as the spokes or not.

from dictionary.com:
the outer circle of a wheel, attached to the hub by spokes.

a circular strip of metal forming the connection between an automobile wheel and tire, either permanently attached to or removable from the wheel.

See that's why when I first heard the slang "rims" in reference to wheels I was confused. B/c when I think of rims I think of the rim of the wheel specifically. But now I've just come to call them rims. (shrug)
