Doc B Racing History

I thought I would let you Guys/Girls know a bit about Doc B Racing and it's history.....

Doc B Racing was founded in 1994 with the purchase and complete restoration of an original 1970 Datsun 240Z factory show car, serial number HLS30-00008. The car was pretty rough after racing for nearly twenty years. It's last race before we purchased it was the 1990 24 Hours of Daytona

A thorough restoration of the race car was undertaken with 99% of the work done in-house

Our first race with the 240Z was the 1995 Quaker State Securities Vintage Grand Prix at Pocono where I finished 9th overall 4th in class.

Frank came on board in 1997, and we promptly scored the overall win at the US Vintage Grand Prix at Watkins Glen!

We continued to develop the Datsun further and
2002 was the team's most successful racing season! At the Watkins Glen Historics, the team scored a pole qualifying position (over professional drivers Hurley Haywood and Peter Kitchak), a first overall in the sprint race, and a second in class in the enduro. At the VARAC Vintage Festival at Mosport, the team had a clean sweep with a pole qualifying position and first place overall in the sprint and enduro races. Finally, at the Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix, the team qualified on the front row and finished the sprint and enduro races first in class.

Who says vintage racing isn't close...take a close look, there are 5 cars together in that corner!!

Later I will post part II with the aquisition of the Mazdaspeed!

(cool) thread topic, Tom!

It's great to see the beginnings of Doc B Racing...I can see you've had that awesome enthusiasm and motivation from the day 1! (first)

I'm diggin the Z but what brought on the change to the Mazda? :D

Were the track shots taken by a professional photographer?

Ps...You might want to resize that image of you guys standing by the Z so that this thread is easier for everyone to view.

+1 :)

I'm sure Tom and the Crew are busy with the new racing season...Hopefully, Tom will have a chance to post the "Mazda" half of the Doc B Racing story...We're all looking forward to it! :D

Antoine and forum members....

It is great to see that many of you are interested in "our story"!!(thumb)

Antoine, you are correct, it is down to crunch time before our first event but I will try to see if I can squeeze in some time to write the second half....
