I think if you look took that extra 18K you mentioned and dumped it into your MS3, well Id assume you would have a much much faster car then any STI.

yeah, funny how people that start those conversations also happen to not own the cars they talk about and drive POS's. Just like every ebay-tuned civic driver that comes to the spot I got to on saturdays asks me about my audi and then proceeds to explain how a SRT-4 or the new Si is *sooo* much better. (blah)

i was filling up my gixxer one time and a guy filling up his 2.5 altima started telling me how fast he had gone in his car. why he was telling a guy with a motorcycle how fast he could go in his 4 wheeled vehicle with probably the same hp i'll never know.

I stopped their and didn't feel like explaining how are care runs like s*** when venting to atmosphere.

and one of the 2 guys even has a legacy 2.5 GT, who also tried to tell me the specB was a 6 cylinder (screwy)

I used to have an NSX and got into those kind of conversations EVERY time I went out in it. I would always tell 'em that you can make a turd go fast with enough HP and they got the point. Man I miss that car.

and those of you talking about 18k add'l for the sti...

what the heck kinda sti were you looking at?

just curious, because the average new ms3 is what, 23-25...that would mean the sti would be 40k+, which it isn't. in fact some people were just picking them up for around 30k or less not too long ago....

the sti is way more upgradeable, and in a more reliable manner than our cars, you know. sure, it's expensive, but it does run mid 4 second 0-60 and has awd. downsides, some, in addition to the price, but i'd put up a new sti with a few k into it vs. any street ms3 out there. in fact i'd put a new WRX with a few K into it vs. any of our street ms3 on any of these forums. you can love the heck out of our car, but let's not lose our senses here!!!! it's an awesome car for the money, but it's not a world beater.

it's not so much the hate of the sound, it's the hate of the idea of changing a BPV system to run rich just to make a noise.
