I went with my lady friend and she mentioned that I should gather the members in Japan and rep next year...It would awesome to have our own tent and ride area with a BIG ASS BANNER that read mazdas247.com!

We should definitely hit up the event together next year! :D

For sure, no problem! If everything goes as planned I will have done my engine rebuild and gone over to a Single turbo before the event! I am already getting ready to do my suspension bushings all around!

We need more Japan members, I have an Austrailian Co-worker with an FD as well, I should get him to signup to the forum!

How much is the engine rebuild and single turbo conversion going to run you...including labor if your having it professionally done?

As for members in Japan...I've been wanting to start a Mazda Forums "chapter" here for ages but there never seemed to more than a handful you...and none of us are even in the same region...:(...but that's not going to stop me...Once I have my sweet Cosmo (drive)...I'm going to try and organize some sort of meet!!! That would be awesome! :D

Including labour, etc (I will probably do V-mount intercooler setup too)....unfourtunately around $8-10K (Thats assuming full retail, if I can get better deals, then it will drop).

Yeah...I would estimate about the same amount...Do you have a shop in mind that will do the install? Will you buy the parts from the same shop or "shop" around?

Any recommendations for Mazda shops in Kansai?

I will shop around for parts (turbo kit, etc). But for the rebuild stuff and job either I will go to RS Pantera www.rspantera.com (they just do rotary basically) or there is a local Cockpit that does rotary.

There are sooo many shops in kansai. What prefecture? Osaka has TRIAL (www.trial.co.jp) SignalAuto (www.signalauto.co.jp)

In Mie ken they have the rotary specific shop RE Wing (http://www.re-wing.co.jp/) All major rotary guys are mostly Kanto (R Magic, RE Amemiya, etc.) I have a book that has about a 6 pages of shops that either do rotary really good or are just specific rotary shops.

those are some sick rims, anybody kno who makes them?

I saw the coolest looking RX-7 the other day in Houston. It was fire engine red with a carbon fiber hood and rims and omg *splat* it was t3h pur s3ckz.

:D

Sorry if I strayed...:P

wow... all that money.... and 99% show

Au contraire, mon frre...All those 7's ran on the track several times throughout the day...Most of them ran in this mini-series with a winner chosen at the end of the day.

Despite the "showy" rides...The focus of the event was definitely about driving and racing...:D

I think those guys over there really know how to build nice cars.

Unlike here where most people are either "all-show" or "all-go", those guys put both together for some really nice rides. They go just as fast as they look good! :)

i liked there 7's also when i was at the tokyo auto salon. it's a good mix and they don't get too crazy with the motors. i can see those rides being driven on the street for fun and seriuos weekend track car.
that's what 7's are know for in japan (turns) and that's what it's built for.

unlike USA :(

i know some people in usa try but always had overheat problems on there track cars and that shows how well the japanese can do it ;)

a few simple mods and the heat problems can be resolved. Ya people here use the 7 for what it's made for turning. Drag racing/ light to light racing is not super popular here

i have seen in the USA a actual purpose built rx-7 for road racing and was up against big engines. the rx-7 was awesome on the turns but towards the middle and end of the race the car would overheat and never finish.

i know in japan they don't have that problem. so i felt the americans are just not that experienced in getting the most out of the 7.

1/4 mile wise usa is up there but then there are some 7's in japan that is a second faster then the USA fastest 7 ;) LoL

The 4 rotor info:

R26B

The most prominent 4-rotor engine from Mazda was used exclusively for various Mazda-built GT cars (including the 767 and 787B) in replacement of the older 13J. In 1991 this engine in a 787B became the first from outside the U.S. or Western Europe and the first (and so far only) car with a rotary engine to win outright the 24 hours of Le Mans race. It displaced 2622 cc and built 700 hp (522 kW) at 9000 rpm. The engine design originates as a single 13B with: an additional rotor and housing added at each end, continually variable geometry intakes, and an additional (third) spark plug per rotor. The R26B's rotor housing can be purchased at retail from Mazdaspeed, but no internal parts are available to the general public.
