99 Mazda Protege
I've searched everywhere and cannot find an answer to this. I have a
99 1.8L Mazda Protege and im looking to buy a CAI from a 2000 1.6 L Mazda Protege. Ive checked his engine bay and mine and the only thing i'm not sure about is the MAF sensor. Does anyone know if a CAI (brand is called tech racing) will fit my 1.8L? The maf sensor seemed slightly different on both cars so i'm a bit hesitant about buying it to find out i'd have problems...

I know the maf is significantly different from the 1.6 and 1.8. So I dnt think there's a good way to mount it, so I think it's a no go

alright thanks for the replies. I actually just got off the phone with mazda and they told me it wouldnt work out..instead im getting a shop to fit on a short ram intake for a 2.0 Protege and fitting it onto my 1.8:)

2.0 an 1.8 are very nearly identical, so that should work. i believe the only real differences are block height, and ignition configuration. Someone know of another major difference?

not too sure but i'm having a shop do it for me to fabricate it so if there are any problems I can always go back to them. I was going to get either an AEM or Injen CAI or SRI but there well over 300$ here (Canada lol)..and this short ram I found for 100$. I'll just throw off the filter and strap on a K&N and still save like 200$:)
