difference between 2.0s

aight, whats so different between our engines and and the suburus and the fords. what makes the suburus so bad-ass other than the turbos. also, ive heard about a kit for the suburus that costs about 5000 and bumps them up to 400 hp. that sounds crazy. any info would be great.

First of all, if it's the WRX you are talking about, it is a 2.5L horozontally opposed(boxer) engine. It's very well balanced, almost no engine vibration because of that. With the ford, they have the Ztec, essentially the same as Honda's Vtec. But to answer your question, I'm not really sure why Mazda's 2.0 isn't pushing more power. No one has really figured it out. The only thing I can think of is the First cat, but I hollowed mine out and it didn't make a huge difference, just a little.

Ok well the subaru is a horizontaly opposed engine 2.5L for the RS and the WRX well it's a turbo.... so that settles that...

Ztec is not like Vtec.. Ztec is just their line of engines for their compact cars... The new Ford SVT Focus is the first Ford to have intake variable cam timing in North America, which is like Vtec. Teh ZX2 had the exhaust cam variable timming, the ZX2 is being scrapped by Ford so.. no more of that car.

Our cars are basic 2.0L with advanced ignition timing. That is where they get the extra 10Hp over the regular 2.0L engine. That is also why the reccomend you using High octane fuel to keep that extra 10 Hp or else your knock sensor will notice the knocking and bring back your timming to the regular 2.0L engine.
We do have a Dual stage intake manifold, dunno how that works yet but I am doing my research. We do not have cam timming (vtec or vvtl-i ( toyota)) or turbo's on our cars. Hence the reason for lower HP engine.

The most restrictive part of our engine isn't the intake nor the exhaust it's the header and cats. Remove the header and cat with a 4-2-1 and then your talking increase in HP.

The new Mazda 6 comes directly from factory with 4-2-1 headers, maybe not very good ones.. but they are an HP increasing mod none the less. The new 6 also comes with tumble swirl valves which increase HP also... there are just a few things we will be seing in the new Mazda's from now on... can't wait till apply this stuff to the MP3...

the wrx has a 2.0 not a 2.5 they wanted to keep it in the lower class to kick ass
the rs impresa has the 2.5.
correct me if i'm wrong
but i think i'm right
the intake deal i belive is it vacuume controled
it acts like secondaries on a carb. (opens after a certain rmp level)

the vibration thing.
the only way you can make and engine with no vibration is to have no moving parts.impossible
true it's horz. which cuts down on vibration.

even tho the wrx is has less vibration than the norm. wankels Rotary has the least, when it's built the correct way. 3 moving parts vs. 50 or so moving parts in piston engines.
moder marvels had a show on engines last month and they went though this whole deal. history channel
the reason why the wrx 4 cyl. 2.0 has more powr is that was there main goal
mazda was more concerned about being efficent.
you can make a 4 cyl push 700 hp but it wont be drivable on the street. munch gas, ect,ect

I said "essentially" not completely. Boxer engines are known for very little vibration. This is why Honda used this type of engine for their Valkyrie(horoz. opposed 6cyl). Harley's produce so much vibration that some people want something that doesn't, then they go to Honda's Valkyrie. I don't know anything about Wankel engines so I won't even go there. But I do know boxers.

wait first off
you didnt say "essentially" you said
"almost no engine vibration because of that"
and my post was not ment to contradict you
it was just to state the fact that any maving part creates vibration. true that some have less then others.
i dont or ever post to ruffle any feathers only in flam wars. reminds me i must check up on uor "buddy" LS1
i just posted to clear up the size of the wrx's engine and then to share what i learned on the history channel.
we cool?
i am

WTF are you talking about? "My buddy LS1"????? Please step away from the bong! I didnt' post to "ruffle your feathers" either, so WTF are you talking about. I didn't say you were completely wrong. Damn,...chill out, you are testy today.

It's the OPPOSED part that really cuts down on the vibration, I believe. It's more than just turning the engine on its side.

dude, hello did you read what i wrote, let me cut and paste for you

(you) WTF are you talking about? "My buddy LS1"?????

(me) reminds me i must check up on uor "buddy" LS1

granted i spelled it wrong but in no way does it say YOUR it says OUR or (uor)
and i am not testy today it's friday
i'm not tring to start s*** but if you are going to quote someone GET THE QUOTE RIGHT.

and there is NO way i will step away from MY bong.

Ok any engine can be perfectly balanced. You just need to get a blue print of your engine and some professional shops will balance it for you. My friend got his integra gsr blue printed and balanced... it's crazy smooth and my friends cobra is balanced from factory. Rev that V8 up to 5 grand and you can still put oyur hand on it and it barely even shakes.. now that is nice...

Just so you know...

The Scooby WRX has a 2.0 liter motor so it can fit in the rules for the WRC. All of the cars in the WRC are 2.0 turbo charged cars.

alright guys, not to piss anybody off, but you guys havent come up with jack s*** as to why their motors are so much better than ours, not that i can but i dont know s*** about rice burners. w/ v-8s all you need to add power is A cam port and polishing the headS and bigger carb. or injectors. apparently all of these do jack s*** for our motors. i dont believe that having a little less vibration and variable timing makes a motor that bad ass. i know they have turbos but the people that turboed mp3s didnt gain that much power( or did they). maybe nobody here knows what makes them diff. but i can damn sure tell you the stuff mentioned (minus the turbo) makes that big of a deal. no offense to everyone and by no means am i saying i know anything bout import motors. however i used to race mini-stock dirt track cars and we used 2300 ford 4-cyl. we would put nice cams, shave port and polish the heads, pop up pistons and big carb. and all of those individually would make a huge difference. so why dont they make that big of a deal on our cars. thanks guys.
