Did advertising pursuade you?

A trend here (given many car savy types as registered members), reviews have at least have enough influence to get us to test drive...

Actually the main persuaders were accomplished YouTube reviewers - the ones that drive new demo cars.

During reviews of things like the CR-V and RAV they kept mentioning how much better and more fun the CX-5 was to drive. After that, there were the x/10 review sites (Edmunds, etc.) and the nice city MPG that I needed.

The deal was then sealed.

I didn't even notice the commercial with the snowboard inventor was about the CX-5 until after I'd bought it.

Interesting replies on this topic. Not 100% certain but my guess most if not all replying to this thread are males. I am curious if the adds had any impact on female impressions on the Mazda line? Were wives/girlfriends a factor in any of these purchases? Did the adds bring the CX-5 to the lime light so to speak as a valid competitor in a very competitive compact crossover line?

Female here. The ads didn't influence me, but they kinda added to the "hype" and fun when shopping/purchasing it as it was a new design at the time (2013 model).

But I'm an unfair sample, as I had an RX-8 previously and already knew about the CX-5 for quite awhile. I wanted something that was practical yet still fun to drive, so in many ways it's as if Mazda waved a magic wand and tada! Made the car for my wishes :)

And as others have said, what "sealed" the deal was reading professional comparison tests, user reviews on here, and finally of course my test drives.

For what it's worth though, ads definately *did* influence my purchase of the RX-8 those may years ago. The ads captured a feeling of passion and pride Mazda seemed to feel for creating something bold, fun and different. I wanted to share that feeling.

I would say advertising led me to purchase a CX-5... indirectly.

I started researching SUVs after the Super Bowl commercial for the Kia Sorento last year (2013) and I started researching knowing my 1996 Honda Passport was spent. I, like others above, used the Internet for reviews and ratings. Trimmed my list and narrowed it down. Almost a year since and I know I've made the right choice.

I do not remember seeing any advertising for Mazda prior to my purchase. Now I can't turn on the tv without seeing one!
