anyone have the dgmotorsports with the aem intake. you know the one im talking about the ram air intake hood.

well how is the performance gains with this hood and does anyone have pictures of underneath the hood? im interested to see how the hood connects with the filter.Heres the Url to it

thanks in advance

The filter does not connect to the hood. They added like a bucket where the filter sits on. The hole on the hood is exactly where the filter sits at. there a 7.9 hp gain.

I had pics and I accidentally deleted these. DG sponsors me and they actually let me borrow the hood for one show. I went with them to the dyno, i think on their website they have the dyno sheet.

yes it seems alot but think about it, compared to a normal hood where your sri basically sits in that front left gap where alot of heat from the engine also sits, this would mean is pulls in hot air basically, although the theory is the cool air coming from that hole that CAI's go through is what is being sucked up.

With that hood it is cold air being "rammed" into the exact spot the filter sits in stock or with an SRI. So it is now sucking cool/cold air instead of hot and cool mixed.

I was trying to get ion sports to do this with their weave colored oods but havent heard them saying anything about it.

this way you get the best of both worlds.

CAI: sucking cold air but slower through a long straw. :(

SRI: sucking faster through short straw but sucking hot air. :(

this hood thing (among other ideas/concepts out there): sucking cold air fast. :D

too bad it's more than the cost of a hood and a CAI/SRI put together....

but the looks and performance gains? from the same piece? pretty hard to beat. too bad i'm poor else i'd have this thing in a jiffy.

:(

oh this is going to be my next modification to my mp3. im saving my extra money right now and i only have a total of like 50 dollars haha... so it wont be anytime soon. maybe there will be another group buy set up by then because i think several would join in if it would be like 800 shipped or even 850 shipped

ROD - i was just wondering a bit about the hood..you still need an SRI with it, right? ...and what about rain/water/etc? is there anything to worry about with that and the intake?

could you do the same thing for an injen style by pressurizing the cavity where the filter sits? either integrate an air scoop into the panel under the bumper, or new bumper with scoop built in.

well with where the injen sits I would think a custom or DG style downforcers which would force a little more air up into the box where the injen sits(assuming u removed that plastic stock flap)

Also an adjustable lip would work so you can angle it to force a bunch more air up there.

Lastly about pressurizing, the only way I could think you could do this would be to leave that stock flap on, and seal it a little better and have a co2 system spray in there(to chill the air in the box) but that would not be a constant thing.

People talk crap when they see the price of the hood, their like 900 for a C/F hood I can get em for 500, yyah but your not gaining 7+hp with the other one, this is like 2 performance mods in one(weight, hp) and a appearance mod.

Now that I think about it, it would be a lot cheaper to just get a NACA duct like that molded into the stock hood & then get it painted the way I want.

I'm sorry, but $900 is just WAY too much for something like that. VIS makes CF hoods with vents for like 1/2 that.
