Delsing Klunk Fix installation?

I know a few of you guys got your Klunk fixes in from Delsing this week...has anyone installed them yet? I've read over the instructions a couple of times, but since there are no pics of the install actually happening under the car, I'm a tad confused in a few areas.

Firstly, it says to raise teh rear of the car on the center nub of the subframe (does it mean the black subframe between the two rear wheels? And is the nub that boxy angled part in the center?).

Then it says to locate the two subframe mounting bolts ion the left and right (so does it mean 4 bolts total?)

It later says "Attach cross support to bracket and corresponding stock bishing mounting hole. Use stock bolt to fasten inner end of support to subframe"

That part totally confuses me.

Then later it speaks as if the endlinks and the swaybar should have been removed, but didn't mention that earlier.

Can anyone help out here? Pics would be a huge help. Micaspeed? Ping?

Well, I got a decent idea on how they SHOULD go on by looking under the car. I tried to start the project, but I can't get my end links off for the love of Christ. I realize that there's a place for an allen key to go in there, but I still can't get these things off. Any tips?

lots of pb blaster and use a allen wrench (correct size) with a wrench if you dont have air tools. If you do use a 6 pt socket and take it off quickly. either or works, but if you do the air tool route make sure the endlink bolt isnt spinning, mine did that before and i had to file some flattened threads back into shape.

Well, i tried to use a socket wrench to fit over the nut, but there wasn't enough room for the socket and the wrench.

I tried spraying it with WD40, but I don't have any PB Blaster. Do they sell it at Home D or Lowe's or anything? Autozone maybe?

I've got no air tools.

So do I just hold the allen wrench still and try to rotate the bolt CCW?

Ok, got me some PB Blaster and a Propane torch from Advance Auto Parts. I'll give this another go in a couple of days.

yep, If you have to use a needlenose vicegrip to hold the other side. Thats how I got mine off.

if you spray them with the PB they should come off quite easily depending upon how tight they were installed the last time they came off. I wouldnt recommend the propane torch after they have been sprayed with the PB though if i remember correctly its quite flammable. Try the allen wrench method first. Use a normal box end wrench (14mm i think) and a allen wrench in the center (dont remember the size) and just loosen like any other bolt. Another thing about the propane is i know the nuts are soft to begin with so be careful heating them.

Which side? The bolt on the outside?

I've never takent them off. Last they were off may have been about 2 years ago when I got some bushings replaced by Mazda.

I was thinking that, but thought "eh, there's not that much on there...how long could it burn". Then again, it IS right near the gas tank. Hmm.

Cool. Lets hope the PB does the trick. I take it it have to put a lot of pressure on the allen wrench?

How much were they if I may ask? Did you get them directly from Delsing?

Why would you need to remove the bar and the endlinks? doesn't the bar just drop down when the brackets are removed?

uhm...i didnt really have to and i was taking the nut off with stripped threads. it will probably surprise you its quite easy.

Yeah. They were a hundred and something.

Probably to get the new bushings on, I guess.

Refer to the above post, especially the one picture - it's worth a thousand words.

Here are a few more pics that may help - no time to post any gory details but IIRC the install went really smooth, about 2.5 hours including taking pics - the hardest part was jacking everything up and getting the jackstands placed. It's GREAT to have a trailer hitch as I can put the BFJack under it and whoomp the whole rear end up at once.

Tips:
- Do one side of the subframe at a time - keeps it from totally falling on your head
- Support the rear subframe - to keep it from totally falling on your head
- Use blocks to avoid scratching your paint
- Don't do situps under the car - to avoid totally hitting your head in the undercarriage.
- WD40 or penetrating oil if you need it, but you're working around the braking areas so be careful with overspray. Brake-kleen the rotors if you think even remotely that you got spray on there.
- Torque wrench everything - don't leave any bolts without doublechecking.
- Goes without saying: Chock those front wheels, and don't go under a car unless it's SECURELY supported on jackstands or something (STURDY) other than floor jacks. You CANNOT get out from under a car that's falling, it just goes "smack" and you're history before you can blink.

(aww crap - on the work computer and don'tm have the images here - will remember to post 'em when I get home. If I forget and you need anything, email me at LRDixon@att.net )

Cool, I can't wait to get this on tonight. Any advice on getting the endlinks off, ping?

Dude, i totally just spent the last 2 hours rounding off the endlink bolt. I tried a propane torch and tons of PB blaster. It didn't even budge.

Now hold on just a god damned second here. The Delsing motorsports fix is available?!?!11!one?!!?! Or is it just the few he made? I ******* want one!

Chris

Cut them off and buy new ones you are wasting your time. Unless you already have some new ones with the kit? Goodluck, can't wait to see results and opinions from others.

I was thinking of cutting them off, but how? I don't want to destroy the bolt.
