Without any engine mod intentions for my CX-5, diagnostics is my prime consideration for any OBDII scan devices. I might consider the Bluetooth adapter/TQ app for a cheaper alternative for my needs.
Yes, normal and good behavior. When you apply the brakes it tells the cars computer you are in slowing down mode and it downshifts to save wear on the brake pads.
I'm not a big fan of this, myself. Brake pads (and for that matter all braking components) are cheaper to replace when they wear out both in terms of parts and labor than engine or transmission repair. On the other hand it does improve the driving experience in common situations, especially in traffic. I can only hope that Mazda has done their homework on this and there will be very minimal loss in lifespan on the engine or transmission.
Hello all. I appologize for my lack of knowledge, don't know tat much about cars. I just picked up a beautiful 2014 GS AWD CX 5 on Saturday with 25 km on it. Wife drove it from the dealership back home (180 km highway) while I was in the other car. One thing i did notice was that it was very hard for me to stay with her. She is a very "speed limit" type of driver while I go always +5-10km/hour over the speed limit.
I drove the car in 3 separate ocasions in the weekend and now we have 224 km on it. One thing I did notice was when i would coast towards a traffic light (by trying to get best l/100km) as soon as I would lift my foot off the gas, the car would downshift (normal behaviour) but it would somehow do it "jerky". Now I don't remember that happening during our test drives but the demonstrators have had way more km on them and have been probably more abused. Would this "jerking" go away once the engine is being broken in or is there somehting that I am not doing right?
