I went to the dealership yesterday a certain tsb

Anyway the folks at the dealer where going through these here forums.
I found myself wondering let's see we post pretty much everything we do on our cars here some of which entails to things in which will void the warranty for instance BOV, Cold air Intake etc.. then if there happens to be a problem we would remove aftermarket parts and make it stock again and take it for service. Did anyone think for a moment that information posted out there is public info that could be nailed down to you.

Wasn't there a post here recently about mazda sending a subpeona to Antoines residence asking him to release records for someone who voided the warranty but tried to go around it meanwhile mazda had the evidence right on him.

The point I am trying to make here is I would be careful as to what you mention online. Do I agree that the dealerships should be looking on here to see if you have done something to the car Yes and NO. This post is not intended to be controversial but informative.

welcome to 1999. They have been doing it for years. The burden of proof still lies upon the dealer to PROVE your modifications caused the actual failure. So in short, they can spy all they want....but it wont help them too much.

well we use pseudo names, and no VIN numbers are posted...as long as you dont show up on a car like mine...they have no leg to stand on.

+1 i think pirana would be a dead give away. ;) everyone else i believe could hide pretty well.

Just go easy on the mods until the warranty runs out. My warranty ran out 2 years ago and then I started modding.

Noted! By law they have to prove the aftermarket part caused the failure of said name part(s). That is fact and that is LAW. They cannot deviate from that, period. I witnessed it first hand and the case became so indepth a factory engineer was called in and guess who lost, THE DEALER! Now that was just this particular case and in no means is that a reason to go all out and attempt to get away with stuff.

For me, that's why I'm sticking with Mazdaspeed parts. they cannot void your warranty when your using Mazda performance parts. I've played the game in the past and it's not worth it unless you could careless about your warranty. Just my .02 cents

Smart man.(first)

They have to prove the parts caused the problem, so don't worry about it.

On the flip side, if you bought a new vehicle because you like the idea of a warranty, just don't mod it. Not worth the hassle of fighting them over the Magnusson-Moss Warranty Act.

Or, find a better dealer.
