2006 Mazdaspeed 6
Havent seen this posted on here so if this is a duplicate delete it. I called Mazda today to set up a time for an oil change on my Mazdaspeed 6 and the guy told me that the price has went up due to mazda now using 5w-40 full synthetic for the oil changes. The price is 65 dollars which is steep but the oil being used and the arguments seen on this forum about different types of oils is interesting.

Just thought I would pass this on.

they got wise when they realized the thicker oil was better for the turbo and would help the plagued smoking problem.

thats cool..i called my dealership and they told me to stick with 5w 30 or it would void my warranty and to not change it unless "mazda" says other wise...oh well i guess they are all different

temporary for some but it will be permanent for me, that and the 950rpm idle. with the UOA's i have got for my shell rotella t-syn its the only stuff i'll use from here on out.

Oh I agree. I was merely speaking on the part of MNAO's TSB that's out right now.

yeah i got ya. mazda is only claiming it as a temp fix til they fix the pcv. but turbo cars generally like the 40w oil.

Yeah, after seeing your UOA, and how well the car seemed to react to the Rotella, you got me sold. I'm almost due for my next change, so I'll be picking some up here soon, along with a Wix filter.

my mazda told me the same thing anyway, my mechanic has an ms6 he said the w30 is the best performing oil you can get, and that w40 is not neccisary until the car smokes.
