Dealership Damaged My Car!! I need Advice!!

So here's the story. Bought car 1.5wks ago. Just brought it into the dealership for aftermarket installations. Picked up a few days ago.

(1) There was a small dent on the driver's side door near the handle.
(2) There were scratches on the hood.
(3) A small 'smudge' near the driver's side side view mirror - difficult to describe but seems like the paint is worn in that spot.
(4) The center console was not put back, the faux wood paneling was hanging off.
(5) Today I parked at the supermarket, and turned off car. All of a sudden the SmartKey didn't work to lock the doors. Then I tried to turn the engine on - no luck. Had to call Mazda Warranty Roadside Assistance. As it turned out, the cable to the battery was completely 'detached'. Obviously when they did the installations, they didn't attach the cable to the battery properly!!!

What should I do? Please advise.

Obviously get all 4 items fixed. Do you know if these are 'easily' fixed problems? I think the dent can come out. But the scratches and smudge I'm worried about because of how it might leave the paint finish. Any advice will be appreciated.

After that, I think I should ask for some other things to compensate for the damage, and stress, and just the fact that I just bought a ~$40k car 1.5wks ago, and now there's damage done to it!!!! Free service?? Free accessories?? Can't think of anything else, I'm sure all of you out there will have some ideas!! My highlander of 5 years doesn't even have a scratch or a dent!!!

Very dissapointed. Please help with some direction to take in this situation.

Your problem is you did not immediately bring it to their attention. I generally never leave until I inspect everything. You may have a harder time convincing them they did it. I would, first thing, go back to the dealership in the a.m. and ask to speak with the Service Manager. You should have these items corrected and nothing more. They screwed up, but you are not entitled to anything more than being made whole.

Yeah I guess I forgot to mention that at the time I picked up the car, I noticed the first 4 items listed above, so they saw it and agreed to fix it. And as it turns out, we just picked up the car and it looks good, however the driver side door now rattles upon closing the door - this is really getting out of hand!! Again the service manager was there to witness it, but he didn't have anyone to fix it at that time of the day.

So as you can see, it's this ongoing saga of repair - not done right - repair again - etc that has repeated itself over the course of the past 10 days!!

So fine, they did repair the damage that they caused (outside of the rattling door), and yes, of course we are happy about that. But for the past 10 days, after only having had our new car for a week, we've had to 'deal' with calling the dealership (as they would not call us at all to let us know any updates / call to apologize etc - hey, they made the sale, what do they care?), driving over there several times, stressing about the 'new' car, etc. They should do something for us to ensure that we feel 'comfortable' ever coming back to that dealership or even referring them to anyone.

So that is my question - what is a fair compensation in this case? Many of you may just say, to have them fix it is enough. Yes, I agree that is the 'least' they should do.

Thanks

Thats just the nature of the beast. All you can really expect is to be restored to the position that you were in prior to the issues occuring. Short of that you can find out who the owner or general manager of the dealership is and send them a certified letter detailing your experience and how less than satisfied that you are after buying from them and being treated poorly. Point out that these are the kinds of things that prevent repeat purchases and referrals to others. Other than that you have not suffered or endured anything which would be deemed compensable.

(iagree) it would be cool if they did something to make you feel better, but that's prob not gonna happen!
