Mazda 5 Carbon Gray + 4 spd. w/Auto Starter
has anyone got this option. My wife wants it. especially for the winter. How do you guys like it?

I picking up my M5 tomorrow (i think) w/ auto car starter. I'll let you know how it is once i use it.

Don't get it from the dealer

I have one in my 5. Is very good. i can start the car in the parking garage from the 10th floor. BUT... i just found out that I can get the same unit for only $180 CAD in any other Auto shop and these auto shop offer warranty on there installation. Don't get it from the dealer... is way over price.

question, if i where to get it from a car audio shop, would that mean i would have 2 remotes, one for the doors, and one to remote start.

also if i get the mazda remote starter, is it still one remote, or is it still 2??

TIA

First of all, the mazda remote starter is not made by Mazda. Is the same after market starter that you can get at any shops.
The Mazda 5 remote key is not compatible with the remote starter. Mazda will give you one starter remote along with your remote key but they will program the starter remote to do everything, making your remote key useless.
So... that means you will have two remotes... BUT if you want to only carry one remote you can't just go cut a new key because the 5's key has a computer chip in it.
You can just take the top part of your remote key off.... see attached photo

I don't know about you, but my remote starter & keyfob are genuine Mazda accessories. It is not a multi-function remote. It works extremely well - starts from 1000 feet away, no problem. My only complaint would be with the dealership - the intallation was less than professional.

my auto starter works great.

my remote key looks very different from yours though. Mine is small,...... (remote key starter that is!)

Just confirmed this new starter in canada

The Auto Car starter from MAZDA has an extra button on the NEW FOB so all the features of the old fob will work on this replaced FOB. The key is swapped from one FOB to the other...

Do you have a Part Number? I am picking my 5 up this weekend, and do want a remote start, but I just got off the phone and cancelled because I do not want 2 fobs (at least not for $495 - for that I can go elsewhere)

But if they have an all-in-one fob I am all over that.

Cheers,
MK

Correction....

I had the remote mazda start unit in my hand today (part number 0000-8F-L05-CA) and it had a separate "mini" fob.

I will follow up with mazda but I understand they had a supply issue with the flip out style key.... more to follow
