My parents are dead

lol - just kidding

Dude - if someone is on their deathbed - yes, you are waiting for them to die. I've been by the side of 3 people who passed away and as morbid as it may be... while you don't want to see them go... you still realize it's going to happen, and you want them to find peace. In those cases I want to know when they pass. Call it a sense of closure, or whatever - but it's something I want to know.

It was publicized knowledge that his health had been failing for a long time. In the past few days they even stated that his breathing was shallow and that his organs were shutting down. Am I insensitive for joking about this ... arguably so, and I could wax philosophic... but opinions are like assholes, everyone has one... most of them stink yet nobody wants to hear it.

Well, with a shovel and a hotplate.... nevermind - wouldn't want to joke about something that offends someone. ;)

Death sucks, but it happens. The important thing is making the time you have count. In the case of a comedian - they make people smile and laugh, I think that is a pretty universal good thing. Though you could still argue that he offended people too. You could say the same thing about the pope, I'm sure gay's weren't too fond of the pope when he declared gay marriage was a sin.

Oh, and if you've ever done anal with a girl, or any form of oral - you've committed sodomy, also another sin.

Oh, and I added another pic of the Pope.

sodomy is something that can be forgiven ;)

Ah yes, but the bible also teaches that a penitant man who is repentant does not repeat his sins and that god "hates" a liar. If you check in the bible, there are very very few things that god "hates".

apparently u have knowledge of the bible...but yet u said before that u dont believe in life after death, heaven, hell, nirvana, purgatory (not ur exact words), so why would u go thru the trouble of reading the bible and learning it but not believing it? or maybe i just took it all out of context?

maybe he was like me and the whole concept of christianity and catholicism were forced on him while growing up (CCD, first communion, catholic school, confirmation etc). This starts a trend of resisting the church, or so it did with me, which was only strengthened by becoming more educated and rational as I grew older.

Before anyone starts arguing faith with me I should point out some things. One, those of you who know me know I'm quick and resourceful. Two, most of you don't know that I was raised a Jehovah's Witness. As a JW (abbrev. used) I was trained from a very young age to "preach gods word". To do so effectively you need to be able to explain things to people. There are things that I was taught called "Conversation Stoppers", these were arguments that are frequently brought up. I was taught solutions to be used to explain past peoples attempts at stopping conversation. I've also spent a considerate amount of time studying transactional analysis, which covers the roles used and subtexts in social situations.

Long story short - I'm pretty good at this.

so his views on a few subjects which he never originated but was obligated buy his position to oppose should negate all of the positive things that he did through out his life? do you have any idea of what this man accomplished WITH his life? of course not, you like to point out things that you disagree with, that make you feel you have licsense
to belittle a man that has affected so many lives in a positive way. people these days are more about being politically correct and less about being morally correct.

Yep, that's pretty much it.

"Train a boy in the way he should go; even when he is old, he will not swerve from it." Proverbs 22:6

that's what I was taught but I did eventually grow up and start thinking for myself.

Some believe in god, I believe in me.

LOL

Just look at most catholics.. Sin put money in the basket everything is forgiven........

Jesus literally overturned tables for this very reason.

Scribes and Pharisee's man.

you see, i dont mean to belittle his death, but i dont understand why people are as upset or emotional about it as you sound in that post and as everyone appeared in these massive vigils on TV.

I mean whoever becomes the pope next is going to be able to better serve the church than he has been able to in recent years due to his poor health so thats a plus, and if you believe in the church then dying is the best thing that could happen to him because now he is with god living it up until forever. None of us knew him personally like he was a friend, i doubt anyone here ever even met him or shook hands with him, he was just the leader of the church.
