if my memory serves me there's about 2 documented cases of people removing the needles and getting them back on. and when you break them, you have to buy a new cluster.

make it three. i tried to do some "customizing" and boink, broke gas and temp. anyway got a good deal from a member when the dealership wanted over 500.

for anyone reading - everyone has been added to the list. ive got nothing new to report on the rings, i'm still working on my CF at the moment. once i get a couple parts out of that ill get back to work on them.

"when theyre done." im going to the shop this week to figure out when we can work on them again. unfortunately, progress was slow the first time and i dont know how much faster it will be this time.

i cant think of a better way to make my 1000th post than to say that i am back in the shop working on these!
right now im working on pulling the dimensions we had changed on-the-fly back off the lathe and putting it into CAD/CAM since were not going to write the code by hand anymore.
later this week i should be ordering a new tool holder purpose-selected to work on this project. it will be nice to deal with the right tool instead of "this might work - its all we have in the student shop"

everyone im aware of whos asked to be on the list is now on.

i think im going to cap it at 25 for right now, if these are in production by mid-march id be cranking out about a set every weekday to keep up before i graduate. i might do more, but i will do everything i can do to get at least 25. everyone after that point will be on a pending list.
plus if i cant get a product to the same unbelievable tolerances as the original, i only let down 25 people + myself as opposed to 50.
