So I was leaving this parking lot this morning and kinda went out quick, hitting one speed bump at a slower speed and I didn't notice the other speed bump right after it and hit this tall bastard of a pile of asphalt at somewhere around 15MPH and all I hear is this slam from the wheels when they hit, a double bounce coming off the damned thing, and plastic shaking around on my front end and then on my rear end once the rears went off the damned thing.

I haven't noticed any immediate dynamics change or immediate issues surrounding the wheels, tires, or suspension on the drive home. Nor did I see any bends in the wheels once I got home and looked it over.

But the bump itself was one of those triangular ones that's maybe 6 inches in width and around 2-3.5 inches in height spanning across the whole driveway.

What should I look out for in the long run?

Wow, that sucks. I always try to slow down for every little dip in the road just in case. I used to have an Eclipse where the previous owner cut the springs so I got used to doing that a lot. Hope your cars ok.

I always slow for all bumps I see but in some instances, like this one, when you have to get out quick hitting things fast is inevitable. Especially when they don't mark the damn speed bumps and it blends in perfectly. I really hope nothing happened and I checked everything out short of taking off my wheels.

But the question remains...
what should I look out for?

I hit a speed bump in one of my Hondas and the damage was noticed right off the bat and my car started leaking after it was parked... that was the fist sign... if nothing has happened yet you were lucky this time.

Or maybe the Mazda is built better??? (dunno)

Well that would be part of you being lucky now wouldn't it? (flash)
True, if this week didn't suck and I manage to simultaneously hit a big speed bump on Saturday at 20 and curb my front right rim really badly today and make a not very noticeable scratch on the right rear. 2288 miles and I managed to do nothing until now. What's ironic is that I curbed my rims in the same parking lot my sister's car got side swiped. Oh the joys of the shittiest week of my life so far. (yupnope)
I also just noticed that somewhere I scraped the underside of my front bumper...just the little dangling black piece underneath the end of the paint, not too big but I hate people that do that. I knew that I should've gotten the Tacoma.

The Tacoma is a nice truck my father had a loaded Tundra and I loved it and the Tacoma felt like a mini Tundra.

As for your problems... that sucks. I don't even have my Mazda right now it's still in the shop from being t-boned... so maybe you should be happy you at least have yours to mess up.

uhh... slow the **** down!!!

these dumbass mistakes wouldn't happen if you haven't sped through the parking lots... good thing you only ****** up your car and not run someone over

True, but now I have to find a way to make the rims look like they're not too bad. Aside from buying a new rim or a whole new set.

Got issues?
Don't take them out on me.

Believe me I know all about Mazda rims and being so much freaking money! I got ran off the road awhile back and had to buy a new rim and it was like $1k for the 16" rim! INSANE! I wish I knew how to make it look less ugly...

Poor guy might have had an issue with a speeding car in a parking lot as a child.

That's horrible! I hope you got a plate number of the guy who did it.
I can't imagine one rim frmo Mazda being $1K, the whole set maybe but just one? Naw...
Anyways, I figure that I can take off the curled over flakes with a little light chiseling and just clean up the hash marks with rough sandpaper followed with medium followed with very fine and to finish it off, some nice polish with a DREMEL polishing wheel and a light coat of wax to seal it off. Might work, might not, but it's definitely worth a try.

Oh sorry It was a little more then a 1k to fix EVERYTHING.

Oooohhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh...see you forgot to mention that.

But honestly, trying my whole method to fix my rash, do you think that'll work?

This is what I'm saying!! And if it succeeds, I'll have a great how-to for everybody that wants to get rid of their curb rash! (assuming they're as dumb as I am)

Sometimes life uses these moments as an opportunity to say, "Slow down. Why are you in such a hurry?"

Jazzy has curb rash because my wife and I were in too much of a hurry to leave a parking ramp to go pick up our kid. We were running a bit late leaving work so when we got in the car neither of us (not even me, despite having walked on the damned thing to get into the car<!>) thought about the curb that we'd parked next to on the passenger's side and there were no cars parked near by.. just turn the wheel, back up and[SCRUNNNCH]. Dammit!

I was mad. Then I realized I'd had as much opportunity to speak up as she'd had to notice the curb -- more actually, as I'd walked on it, like I said, whereas she'd walked past it. I apologized. It's only a wheel, after all..

(And that curb is in a stupid place, too: almost on the end of a row with 3 or 4 spots on the right side of it. Its purpose is to prevent people from blocking access to the emergency water standpipe. Good idea, bad location.)

It's water under the bridge now.

Gonna get a quote from my dealership's service dept. for getting it "dressed" -- they have a guy. I'll update when it's time to.

Yea the curb rash was from a curb that is about 3 feet too long. It's there to shield a spot from somebody's car getting totally annihilated and to add another spot to the parking lot but it's just in a terrible spot and took some metal off my rim.
