damn the 2011 mustang gt is the car to beat

I dont really understand...? But, I have to say, that V6 is impressive, however, most V6 N/A motors that have come from ford are rather gutless. This hopefully will be a change. But yes, I stand by my guns. If I was to purchase one, I would much rather have the 5.0.

lol, it was just funny because you were like "Oh but OF COURSE i'd get the GT." If you could have spent that kind of cash on a car, why didn't you then? You love Audi's, should have just grabbed one instead of a MS3. Tis all i'm saying.

oh, yeah, I meant for a next car...haha. Yeah, no way I could've spent that cash when I bought mine, and I probably cant until a few years after college...i which case I might just buy something used for around $30k

I read that Autoblog review earlier today. There's something about the Mustang's side profile that I have never liked, though any iteration of it, but the rest of that car is so hawt. If I were gonna drop 30 large on a car right now though, it would still be a used G37. I'd be stupid and kill myself quick with that 5.0 under the hood.

Already driven one. It's faster. We'll leave it at that..

hmmmm Ok...........fair enough Silver..then the numbers dont add up, and Ford is under-rating the v6 engine, Ill go test drive one soon, and if it blows the doors of my car..its pushing way more than 305 crank! lol..............I test drove a 332 hp 3250lb 370z month ago, and it didnt pull as hard as my ms3...but now im very carious..I gotta test drive a v6 mustang 2011 :)

Granted it was a pre-production car a few weeks ago, but still. I had my head pinned to the headrest. It doesn't stop accelerating (this was an auto too!). Fantastic car, a little soft for my taste, but nothing the track pack can't fix! It also likes to do burnouts and donuts with little temptation. We had a blast in that car. My goodness I was shocked. High revving V6, sounds like a 350z too lol. Best of both worlds imo.

A rear wheel drive is almost useless in bad weather, thats why I have never been interested in them.

Right on...finaly a v6 mustang that is not gutless and is fun to drive...dammit..cant make fun of people drive a v6 mustang anymore,or its a chicks mustang.....gotta luv it :)

Rear wheel drive isnt the best setup on sloppy roads thats for sure!..its good to have a awd-4x4-or good fwd car for a daily driver if you live in apart of the country that it makes sence. But alot of people live in sunny places and or dont drive thier cars in bad conditions, and for that the Mustang is just fine.

I drove all winter long in a 2005 GTO with the RE040's on it still. Could hardly make it out of the neighborhood over 10mph, but I made it... Would never do it again, but it had nothing to do with the RWD, just tires.

That's what autoblog said, no longer will the V6's be packed in rental car lots.

It really is a blast to drive man, truely an amazing car. It may only weigh a few hundred pounds more, but it can seriously move!!

Buy a GT, keep the engine stock, maybe a intake and exhaust, and blow your money on suspension and wheels. DONE Prob have a super reliable, quick, great handling rwd car.

yea if they underestimated the gt hp output
im sure the 6 is also

for 30k, it's a bargain, it would be a tough choice between a Z or mustang.
i'd probably get the mustang tho due to a huge aftermarket support
and the fact its probably a lot cheaper to mod than a Z.

z's just look awesome from the back, the catfish front, not so much.

The Coyote engine in the new 2011 Mustang GT seems amazing on paper. Lets hope it doesnt change in production. I have a 2007 Roush 427R Mustang that has cast internals with a Roots type supercharger that puts out 427 flywheel horsepower. The 0-60 time is 4.5 seconds and quarter mile time is in the high 12s. I paid $45K for this car new and feel threatened by this new engine. I will either rebuild my engine wih forged internals and install the new Roots TVS supercharger to reach for 500-550 flywheel horsepower, (about $15K cost) OR sell my Roush and buy the new Mustang. More than likely the latter.
As the owner of an MS3 I can tell you that this is the car I prefer for my daily driver. Its lighter, gets better mileage and I just love the lift off feel when I get on the boost. The overall maintenance has been cheaper than the Stang and I have less speeding tickets, no doubt thanks to the stealth Sunlight Silver color of my MS3. The Mustang is a beast to drive compared to the overall balance of my MS3 and I paid $20K less for it too! (drinks)

Thats pretty much how I felt when they came out with the 2003 Cobra. Had I known they were going to do that a year after I bought mine and supercharged it I would have just gotten the SVT and been done with it. This though, loaded the way I'd want it is 40K, and already puts down slightly more HP than mine to the wheels. Also irritating. It doesn't weigh much more and does about the same on the 1/4 mile. Basically I'm not a big dog on the street anymore. As for the guys critisizing the Mustangs cornering ability I think you need to check out the slalom tests they've done as well as the .91 G skid pads. The tri link rear suspensions are solid handlers. I myself have an Independent rear end that's taken care of many cars thought to be able to handle. As he stated though, the MS3 is the better daily driver. Mustangs are just a weekend car as far as I'm concerned.

Impossible to keep a GT Mustang stock. You atleast have to get catback exhaust and intake, then headers, then different cam and tune, then blower, then, **** me i'm broke. But it goes and sounds amazing!

The problem there (and it's the same I ran into at the time) is eventually the performance you get just brings you to the next level of car and you could have just spent that money in the first place and been done with it. So for the 40K or so I dropped on my GT, I could have bought a Corvette that handled better out of the box, had higher top end speed, better mileage.. ect. When you add a blower and such to the new one, and all the supporting mods to keep the rear tires from trying to kill you, you'll be in Z06 territory price wise. And the Z06 owner can just add a couple grand to make sure you still can't touch him.

It never ends.

Hey CTgrey02...what kind of options you got going on the mustang to make it 40 grand?

Theres a great Ford Dealership that is near where I live called Price Ford...it is in Port Angeles, Wa talk to Mark Ostroot. Hes got a good reputation on the Mustang Forums, and is a solid guy to work with. Heres a link to a discussion on the Forums, He can arrange you to pick you your car anywhere in the country, He will go out of his way to make the sale and find a good ford dealership for you to work with. I think he getting Mustang Gt's to customers for around 28-29k...I dont know what options were on those cars...anyways I have no business ties with Price Ford, Im just throwin this out here so guys who might wanna buy 1 soon can get a Great price :)

I'm not in the market to buy another Mustang, although I might consider trading in my Speed3 and Stang for a CTS-V Wagon, lol. (Need something.. "practical" for the baby on the way) As for options I was just going off what they used on Inside Line's article. Back when I bought mine new in 2002 I got every option short of the bigger Mach 1000 stereo system they offered. I'd max it out again if given the chance. Oddly enough, that's the same amount of money I have sunk into mine to get the same performance, and the same amount of money you'd have sunk into an 03 Cobra to get the same performance. So apparently high 12's cost 40K to do on a new car.
