damn officer pork caught up with me... told me ,exact words, "i pulled you over cause your tint's illegal"...dude this sux. i got 10 days to get it "corrected" dammit, some have said its the best tint on a mp3, and now it may have to come off, im gonna try to work around that thou...

did he give you a ticket that you can just pay? or did they give you some sort of citation that required you to prove you took it off?

go to the police station to see if a citation was put against u...same thing happened to my friend...the cop gave him a warning about his eyelids on his lights and tints...when he went to the police station...they had no idea what my friend was talking about...in other words..u might have gotten that cop on a bad day....good luck...

i didn't get any fines or tickets, just a repair order. i have 10 days to get it inspected by the maryland state troopers... sux, i'll keep ya guys posted.

That would suck majorly as you definitely do have the nicest tint I've seen. I know the cops here are real hard-asses about it too...altho it's frequently because people go too dark. Good luck...hope you can keep it.

im going tomorrow to weigh my options. trust me, ill do watever to keep it as blue as possible!

I see nothing about color just about darkness,GOOD LUCK

thank you very much mass! i guess it'll be the see-through blue, not mirror, but 35%, unless you can see through 35%mirror...???

I saw the pictures someone posted from Carlisle of your car (now I know who's it was) and it made me drool for blue tint! I had my MP3 there too and she was growling at all the WRX's (she doesn't like being called that, which often happens). Let me know what happens with your tint dilemma so that I know what to expect if I decide to get blue tint done too. :)

you were at carlisle? did i give u a sticker for this site? i dont remember any n.y. mp3's

I got a ticket for my mirror tint once on one of my old cars... my tint was within the legal percentage but the ticket was for having "Reflective Tint" on my car, and I also had 10 days to have it removed.

This was complete BS I thought because Lexus RX300's (the smaller SUV) come STOCK with mirror tint on the back portion of the car. I brought my tint receipt and tint info from the manufacturer (Lumar) and the judge threw it out with no questions asked.

Good luck!

the thing is, i knew it was illegal when i got it done(it was only a matter of time), but it looked so frickin bad, that i just had to get it. the cops whole thing is that its 20% and md law says 35%... if i can find 35%blue mirror, i should be good. so if any of you guys know who makes a 35%blue reflective tint, shout it out within 8 1/2 days please!

2 layers

get two layers of tint see you locaol tint shop and tell them what u want to do. they can layer two lighter layers to get u to limit. thats what i did i have yellow mirror on mine. I took pics when i first got it but the suck they dont do the tint justis. i will try to take more.
here are the pics i have at the moment

sounds like a plan, BUT...wouldn't i be paying for twice as much tint, which means double the price?

tint news

ok, the latest is...ready for this s***?...
i'm going monday and paying an amazing 125 united staes dollars to have my tint professionally removed( i know i can do it, but haven't got time or patience to do so...so please no comments). then , i go to the dmv to get it inspected.
then...after its all said and done with the authorities, i'm going back to the place that did it originally and getting either 35%,38%, or 50% blue tint AGAIN! it will not ever look that phat again, but hey, it'll still be blue!

well dude.....that sucks...HOWEVER....you KNEW when you had it done that it was ABOVE the legal limit.....this was the chance you took.....sometimes when you gamble you get burnt. seems this was one of those times....

sorry dude....the tint looks awsome. ya just never know....the new stuff will look good too...wait and see.

I'm sure it will too, Derrick.

BTW, Here's a good way to get out of that kind of equipment ticket: get a doctor's note for light sensitivity saying that dark tint is needed. I know someone who went this route and it worked.

It's a good idea to keep a pair of dark sunglasses to wear when you roll down the window though! (I had already discussed this idea with Derrick privately.) It pays to have a sister who's in the eye biz.

i'll definately keep you guys posted on the whole situation. the thing that ruely blows, is that i'll have to be tintless for two weeks, or until i can come up with another 200 additional to do the other blue tint route...man my tint is definate the MOST EXPENSIVE tint on a mp3, if not the purdyest...hehe
