Alright I'm gonna bump this cuz I found out that the car is making the sound even when the brakes aren't applied. It's not as loud, obviously, but it's still the same sound.

I've had the same problems since I changed my 4 discs and ceramic pads this spring... It's driving me NUTS!!! I mean, the car looks awesome but sounds horrible...

The mechanic thought it might be a faulty disc or something... so he changed my 2 front discs and ceramic pads. Was ok for a few weeks but it came back.

Kinda sounds like it's crumping or something.

So I'm having it checked again... I'll let you know if we find a solution.

hmm, i know i had a problem today with my brakes making horrible noises, got out and checked and the flipin caliper was grinding against the rims!!! just came lose and pulled away from the disks. turns out ive been driving with them like that for weeks! GOD DAM JOE ROGAN!

The guy took my brakes appart so often at this point (at least 10 times since this spring) I'm sure he would've noticed a problem like a lose caliper.

I even had to change the lugs 'cause most of them were striped. I was running on 4 nuts a rim instead of 5. Good thing out of it was I got some locking bolts now.

Could be wheel bearing, CV joint, or ABS sensor touching the spindle.

Update:
Did a bunch of research on it 'cause I'm sick of it. Apparently the Protege5 needs the high quality pads or the Mazda brand of pads or chances are it'll make that noise for ever and you end up (like me) having it cleaned and greased again and again and again and again and... yeah you get the point...

So called my garage up, explained and they are supose to call me back (probably to do their own research).

I'm not really surprised though... ever since I had that car it's been picky like hell for the parts and stuff I change in it. BUT it's all worth it for my baby. That car HAS to be a girl and a snob one too.
