CX5 interior protection

Hi everyone,

I've just picked up my new CX5 - and have a question about protecting the interior (especially the seats)

The dealer has recommended Smartkote carpet and fabric coating (http://www.motorone.com/car_care/smartkote.php), but it doesn't come cheap (approx $800)... does anyone know whether this stuff is worth it?

I've also heard Scotchguard is a viable alternative at a fraction of the cost??? We have a baby on the way, so really keen to keep the seats as clean as possible

Help please!!!

Just another way for dealer to pad the sale. Scotchguard will work just as well and is a DIY project or you can have a detailing shop do it for MUCH less $$!

congrats on both, Nothing sprayed on the seats will keep the Baby juices from staining everything. Buy seat covers, wash them as needed, in a few years, the Baby will stop squirting and the seats won't smell or be stained. I know, I've had 3, babies, not CX-5's. Good luck.

i used scotch guard for water and liquid repellence as a preventative measure - not as an end-all solution nor expect it to block stains.

as mentioned already for stains: seat covers, floor liners, cargo liners/covers...

i scoff whenever a product claims "nanotechnology" as a legitimate explanation. their uninformative pdf does not go into specific scientific detail to back up their marketing claims. what about pico technology? femto technology? atto technology? perception-wise, the term nano got trendy around the time of that apple product.
