Engine will only start after holding gas pedal to the floor....runs really rough with no codes showing on my scanner. Took valve cover off to verify it was still in time and it is. Anybody seen this or have any ideas what it could be?? Car has 110K and has always been serviced on time.

That clank isn't good...
Pull the plugs, are they covered in soot?
Check the MAF, may also need cleaning.

Plugs were changed by shop day before this problem started….they also did fuel system clean.

Straight back to that shop so they can fix whatever it was they messed up…..

Oem plugs?? What other things did the shop do?
Wonder if excessive carbon deposts on valves contributed to this?

Excessive deposits caused the shop to do the 'special cleaning' which probably caused it.

Fallen rocker arm on cylinder #4? It’s the problem happened on the 2.5L NA with cylinder deactivation before the recall! What model year is your CX-5?

No, it’s highly unlikely. Failing hydraulic lift adjuster should be the culprit.
15….so it doesn’t have cylinder deactivation.

I hope you’d replaced the hydraulic lift adjuster on that fallen intake rocker arm, or it could happen again.
Haven’t got that far yet….somehow when the rocker fell off it also lost the keeper and stuff for the valve spring, so I’m assuming the valve probably dropped and is now bent. I can move it up and down freely but not sure if it’s closing all the way.
The cam lobe looks a bit chewed up.
