CX-5 Sat Nav not loading

If not the SD card,
Another possibility is the software.
Did you change/add anything recently to the system?
i.e. adding a Blutooth device, pair a phone, whatever.
Does it happen every time or sometimes?
The software sometimes goes into a loop when one of the devices cannot be connected successfully. You can try to disconnect devices one by one to debug this.
I also found that, the software (older version) dislikes interruption.
Let it finish the entire bootup process before you put it into "R" (backup camera comes on).
Newer system is much more solid.
Our old systems on '14 Mazda3/'16Mazda6 were more freaky. I have done several updates since new. They got better after each update.

How well does the system operate without the SD card inserted?
It plays up a bit rebooting randomly, happens more often when it’s been working and the car is shut off and then restarted , it is also sluggish responding, but does sort itself out after a while.

What kind of "reset" per se?
Soft reset or pulling battery terminal reset?
Just did a soft reset on the screen
