my car has little orange spots all over the car and they wont come off without scrubbing each one for 5 minutes. it might be rust but i dont know its a brand new car ive had it for a year and it has been on there since the winter but havnt had time to deal with it and winter coming up again. i saw a picture of another one excatly like this but i searched and i cant find it... can anyone help
how should i get them off and have you had the same problem?

Clay bar will take most of it off if its still on the top of the paint. If it's been able to eat through the clear coat at all (google 'rail dust removal'), it might be a more serious problem.

clay bar will take it off. The pearl paint is prone to this type of issue. I had the same problem with my cwp cx7. Try and wash/wax it more frequent and you wont have this issue anymore.

CWP owners know that s***! If you have a fine attention to detail, get ready for 2-3 hours of claybarring.. Find a good quick detailer as lubricant online..

thanks everyone i guess ill clay bar it. i waxed it like once last year so im gona have to start doing it every couple months and keep the salt off of it because they salt the crap out of the roads here.
and no its not inside the engine bay...
whats the best product to get?

Go pick up a Meguiars or Mothers clay bar kit and hit the whole car with that. If you start noticing this more frequently, you'll have to clay every 3-6 months to protect the paint. Once your done, wash the car again, then put a good coat of wax (or polish, then wax) over the paint to protect it.

For more info on products, head over to the detailing section of the forum, Thrillride is great for product advise.

+elevinty billion on CLAYBAR!

Should take light spots out easily. Just keep working at those spots. If they have been "set in" you might need a slightly more agressive claybar than your "OTC" meguiar's or mother's kit at Autozone or whatnot. You can find that at Autogeek.net.

And for someone who really doesn't like waxing often and has a white car, I'd recommend a synthetic sealant for durability and longevity over a wax. There are a few out there... I personally like Meguiar's #21 Synthetic Sealant. But I'm no professional.

thanks you guys are alot of help! im headin to checker right now and i got all weekend to do this project.. last time i waxed it took me 2 or 3 hours

I have this on both of our silver Mazdas. Claybar did nothing. I had to use Meguiars Scratch X to remove the rail dust.

I had the same thing on my car, I did use the clay bar and after just rubbing it a bunch over the spots it cleaned some of them off slowly but surely. There was just a few that even the claybar didn't do anything.

Definitely need to wax more than once a year. Even the best products won't hold up that long on a daily driver.

Come over to the detailing section (see my sig) and there is tons of info on good products. Check the stickies there.
