Cutting Out

Yeah, that's where I go. So far I only needed to bring it there for the recall twice because the swirl shutter valve wasn't in stock.

We were looking at a white Mazda 3 at Werner but ended up buying the MS6 at Grappone.

BTW, I'm in the Manchester area.

Grappone has been great with everything. I know this issue isn't their fault, but its getting to be a hassle. I am taking it back in next Wednesday, so we will see what they can do. What color is your's? I have seen a few Red Speed's in Manch, and 1 BlackCherry.

I have owned my MPS6 for a year now and am having this issue as well. The only mod I have is the Mazdaspeed CAI and I have not had the re-flash done. The best way for me to describe it is when I am accelerating HARD it studders when I shift from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th. When I say studder, it only happens for a split second then continues to pull after the studder. It doesn't happen consistently and it is ONLY when I accelerate hard. I do notice though it NEVER happens if I shift before 5000 rpm's, only when I excede that magic 5000 rpm point. I just figured it had something to do with fuel cut. I am planning on getting the re-flash done soon to see if that helps along with the voluntary emission recall 4807H. I know the emission recall has nothing to do with it but I figured I'd get it done anyways.
I'll keep everyone updated on my end and if anybody finds anything out please update all of us here...

Had the flash done a couple weeks ago. Still stutters. It's definitely when the gas pedal is down approx 50-100% to build up speed, and usually between 3-4K rpm. And it's completely random. Sometimes it does it, sometimes it doesn't. I have 94 octane in my car now to see if that will help (pre-detonation?). But I am not holding my breath.

In other words... THE TSB DOES NOT FIX THIS ISSUE!!!! :(

take it back and have them check the coil packs. They found that mine was miss firing in 2 cylinders, causing the buck and hesitation. Another member had the same thing, and his seems to be fine now. Mine was the same in which it would stutter, and then not, very random, but the dealer has narrowed it down to this. They even had a Mazda rep come to look at it, as they couldn't locate the problem, but felt it when they drove it. I will know if it works on mine next week, I have the parts coming this week. They are also going to out new spark plugs in as well. Fingers still crossed this is it!

I heard from the dealer today, and they have replaced the coil packs and the spark plugs. One cylinder is fine, and the other inexplicably is down 15 lbs of pressure. They are still looking into it, and I should hear more in the next few days. Its seems that my issue is deeper than most. So again, fingers crossed, cause driving a non-turbo 6i is killing me right now!

I was having this same kind of issue with my car, but mine was fixed with the recall and re-flash. My issue, though, was mainly a broken spark plug tip causing a cylinder to mis-fire. My stuttering left when they fixed that, haven't had it since (knock on wood). Good luck on solving your problem.

i have the same slight fuel cutting problem when shifting, seems mostly evident going from 2nd to 3rd. i shift the same in every other gear and it doesn't really give me trouble. but as soon as i let off the clutch pedal and onto the gas it's like a slight hessitation with small backfires then it moves. the whole process is but half a second it seems. but it always does it unless i go easy on shifting.

oh yeah and werner mazda = douchebags. i brought it there for them to check the turbo smoking problem i have. they blamed it on my cat back saying i have no back pressure and that the motor has worn itself out haha. grappone mazda is awesome as hell though so i'm bringing it to them next since i've gotten pretty good with the service guys there (unfortunately).

by the way, alexander37, you ever head to the candia area? i always see a white ms6 going by the opposite way in the morning. i live in candia and manchester. it's the one and only white one i ever see, and i want it every time i see it go by hahaha.

Haha. I do drive down 101 quite a bit. I live in Merrimack, but most of my family is in Exeter, so I do travel down that way often. I will agree with yo Grappone is great. I have never had a problem with them, and they take really good care of me. I think they are getting sick of me because everytime they try something, I have to bring it back. I think they are more frustrated than me at this point. I just hope they don't lemon it, 'cause I love the White color (which is why I bought the '06 when the '07's had just hit the lot) What are you doing for winter mods? If you are looking for a good wheel/tire package, I got a great deal on some 17"s that look sweet. I can post pics if you are thinking of it.

eh i already have a set of 18" rota subzeroes and bridgestone potenza pp s-03's waiting for spring haha. other than that, one of the few cai's, atp or cpe dp and cpe ems when it's pnp. some other mods as well like springs and some styling stuff too. i'm sure ill add more to the list over the winter time lol.

everytime i see you it's usually in the morning when i'm heading to work in manch or school in concord. either way i'm jealous i didn't wait and get another color lol. i didn't think ti gray would be an abundant choice when i ordered mine...oh well. if i could go back, velocity red or white would be in my driveway...

Yeah, I love the white! I am heading to the dealer today as well to finally pick it up! Gonna have the winter rims put on as well, gotta love this snow crap out here. Looks like the coil packs did the trick, and they have not had a problem since.

I have an appt to bring in the Boom-Zoom to the dealer on Thursday. Hopefully they fix it... Once they fix that and after I install my RPM Springs and Koni Yellows, I think I'm finally done tweaking my car.

(okay, who am I kidding... ~lol~ it's damned addictive.)

Good luck! It worked for me. I have had it back for a few days now, and it has been perfect. By the way, where did you get your xenon match fog lights? I want to get those put on mine.

well, I dropped off my car at the dealership. Called them at noon to find out what they figured so far. "Yeah, we can't duplicate the problem here." So I left work early and went down there, drove with a tech, and showed him how it stuttered. I got him to drive and he figured out how to do it too. Unfortunately it was too late in the day for a resolution, so I have to bring it back tomorrow to get them to look at it and (hopefully) fix it. I'll have more answers tomorrow, I hope.

I got the H11's from here: http://www.hoen-usa.com/fog2.htm. And I followed the install instructions from here http://www.mazdas247.com/forum/showt...&highlight=fog.

For F***'s sake... The dealership can't/won't fix the problem. They figured it out. It is getting FUEL CUT because it is registering an Overboost code. They said with all the mods, specifically the downpipe, it is getting TOO much air.

With the colder air during winter, there is that much more air molecules being forced into the cylinders that it generates too much boost and causes the ECU to freak out and cut the fuel. So at peak boost between 3-4K RPM, I am screwed whenever it's cold out if I give it moderate throttle. In my guesstimate, anything below about 10-12 degrees Celsius. It started happening a few months ago, when it started getting chillier out. I had NO issues at all with these mods during the summer months.

There are only 2 options I can think of:

1. Put the stock downpipe back on. (Good Lord no... it was enough of an issue getting the stupid thing on in the first place).
2. Get an Engine Management System or Fuel Cut Defender and Boost Gauge and tune it so that it doesn't fuel cut.

I will still be checking out the spark plugs on my own just in case, but given the fact that they said their diagnostic machine was telling them overboost, there's not much I can do.

Needless to say, I am a little pissed.

Does anyone have any feedback on this? Ideas?

Dude, that sucks! I have been told by the tech's where I take mine, that most mods, like the downpipe, wont cause any issues. I was originally told my car was also slipping into safe mode (cutting fuel and shutting the turbo down) This is why I have had to take it in so much. I dont want to speculate, but the mods can give them an easy out. My tech said they have a hard time in proving that any mods create the problems, and they have had to replace complete engines in other vehicles (not the speed6's) under warranty because they can't prove squat. Other members have put the downpipe on, and have no issues. I know it will be a pain in the ass, but I bet if you put the stock parts back on, you will have the same results. My car was fine forever, and then all of sudden this. The big problem is that there is no diagnostic code that will trigger that the coil packs are bad. They figured mine out when they did the individual cylinder psi tests to find the misfire. They also found a loose harness. I have the results and all cylinders for mine are now running from 135 to 150 psi, which is normal. And thanks for the info on the fog lights. I will be looking to do some mods this spring.

For those who want to know and have can read codes from their cars, the overboost code I was getting was P0234.
