cutting heatshield

alright guys, I have like...a half inch between my shifter and my exhaust, and the heatshield is right in the middle of it all...if I cut a hole in the heatplate for the shifter so it doesn't keep smacking it...and I wrap the exhaust pipe with heatwrap over the exposed area should I be alright in terms of excess heat?

hmm im not too sure about that one, but i know some cars remove all the heat shields under their car just to reduce weight so i dont think its a bad thing..? but i may be wrong - chris

Most people just bend the heat shield or put washers as spacers on the mount.. a lot easier if you ask me. I havent had to do this so I dont know if it would work in your case.

no I did that it's spaced out, and I have bent it every which way, still hits
