Whoa! Pretty sweet and creative. Must feel good to have the first Protege rear strut bar.

YOU BETTER THAT PATENTED!! Peopl steal ideas in a heartbeat.

its not the first, someone had a really crazy roll cage looking thing back there but im too lazy to search for the post

well it involved a lot of welding and bracket fabrication, I only used 10% of the original bracket the bar came with, so if you can do this, be my guest.

I'll update with pictures of my interior reinstalled when I cut it to accomodate

i believe i was the first or one of the first to chuck a rear strut bar in the back of my car...late november 2002.

but i totally agree. i love it. handling is better than stock for sure.

see attached picy

if that's for me then thanks :) mine was made out of chromemoly (heavy, but friggen strong). can be removed from the back of the car in under 1 minute to get back the boot area.

i'd definately recommend to everyone with a P5 to get one made up

The guy that had the original one was MP5Raycer if anyone cares.

Or he had the thing with the seatbelts attached and everything.

lol@ the random "25%" number. So i'd expect to see a slalom speed increase of about 17mph. You'll hold the world record.

I'm curious to see what the results are, although I'd caution you on making the rear too stiff on a FWD car. Would you say cornering improved, it improved on the twisties, or both?

Anyone have an idea on what it would take to do this on a sedan?

Pro5 the name of the thread isn't, first rear strut bar, so really time and date isnt' a point being made here...

and KoolDino that is more of an assdyno estimate. More specifically my car is a whole lot more stiff, some high speed corners I took before without I woudl squeal a lot of tire, now it's smooth and just dives into the corners, no noise. I also managed to pull a couple three wheels.

Also, don't be an asshole =)

There was some discussion of whom had the first one. I was just providing a little information. Sorry if you thought I was trying to jack your thread or something.

Your's looks good though.
