custom mesh grill, cost - $3

I did both top and bottom. Bottom is zip ties, top is steel rods rapped around not coming off. Silver color i dont know how it would look, definately different.

yeah i have a silver protege as well...do you all think i should just leave the mesh alone and put it in there the color it is? or should i paint it black? if i do paint it...what kind of paint should i use?

Good job, use to do such things on DSMs and they always looked good. If you take your time, use a little common sense then it can look just as good as anyother grill.

I've done the same. For the top, I took out the grill and cut it with the mesh on it. For the bottom, I made a rough template while on the car, then slowly shaved on bits and pieces until it fit. I hooked it up with some 20 lb fishing wire (transparent). The connections can't be seen and it looks clean.

hey dhchin,

AMAZING job on the grill. quick question though, you explained how to install it really well.

my question is more so related to the Mazda logo on the top grill. how'd you remove it from the original?

mine seems to be molded to the top grill, i noticed on enry's MP3 that the logo is removeable on his top grill.

are ES and P5's using different grills?

does anyone know about this?

Here is an attemped photo shop edit using Pimpprotege69's grill and my car, its a really really bad chop... but it give you an idea of what it might look like, it doesnt look that bad IMO, i might do it
