curb rash on stock rims

I like the stock wheels on my 06, they look nice and are easy to clean (compared to some of the wheels out there with 99thousand spokes) Anyway, when I got the vehicle, one of the wheels had some curb rash on them. After 6 months of my spouse driving it, all 4 are now chewed up looking. Has anyone here had their wheels refinished? I suppose having slightly wider tires put on, so not as much of the wheel sticking out of the tire would help, too, right?

Some tires have a nice little lip on them. I have a set of 225-45/17's on AR wheels. They are a little wider. I still have my 2007 OEM set. I don't use them.
