Cryo Cooling = More power?

:
Mazda RX7 '87' & Hyundai Tiburon GT '05'
Did a search but didn't find much, has anyone tried to use Nitrous Express' Nter-cooler setup? Or DEI Cryo2 intercooler cooler? I've seen a couple of dynos that sugest they work, would there be any benefits on using one in an MSP? Has anyone gotten any power gains from either one? They seem like a relatively safe way to make a bit more power on the MSP since its just Nitrous or CO2 cooling the outside of the intercooler. More or curious on seeing if people have used them in the past(peep)

It just seems like a cheap (initial) and safe way of cooling things down and making some more power.:)

it will keep you for heat soaking thats all. you wont have any power gains other than restoring power lost from heat. only point o having one is if you autocross if will help or you do frequent drag racing with multilple passes. personally i plan to put one on with a purge valve for show purposes. girls love that s***!

Really? Hmm.. I thought it would cool down the intake temps too, cold air=more power right? but I can see why you say this is mostly restoring power. I thought this would have the same benefits (mostly) as a FMIC.

Joka, where are you?

Anybody else got this or have some information?

Had one on my civic. Nice way to remove heat soak. No real power gains. I liked it though it was good on hot humid days. And yes it does help keep intake temps down but Alcohol injectors are better at that. You might want to look into those.

Did your civic have a turbo or a supercharger? IDK there just seems to be a couple of dyno graphs floating around that show some gains with the Ntercooler. Has anyone tried Cooling their intercooler with a water sprayer? Or are we looking at basically the same thing? I've done a bit of reading on Methenol injection, but this seem safer imo.

Thanks for the link. I mean just intrinsically (sp?) H2O and CO2 cooling make alot of sense. Colder temps, would definately stop heat soke, and the logical argument is that cold air makes more power. They have videos on DEI of an SRT-4 running the setup and they seem to get more power. Also I just remembered that Sport Compact Car did this set-up (Ntercooler) on a turbo G35 and gained some HP. I'll see if I can find the article.

Here it is: http://www.sportcompactcarweb.com/features/0507_scc_infiniti_g35/index.html

After a week of spirited street driving, Ngo began itching for more power, so he took it back to Fuller with a simple request: nitrous. Fuller told him he was crazy and talked him into simply adding a Nitrous Express N-tercooler kit, a contraption that mists the intercooler core with either nitrous or CO2 in order to further reduce intake charge temperatures.....

As it sits, the G35 now makes a hearty 438 hp and 354 lb-ft of torque at the wheels. If you think thats crazy, with the NX mister switched on, the car throws down an ungodly 505 hp and 425 lb-ft ....

That could be because he upped the boost too... it doesn't specifically say what happens when the mister is turned on.

a good intercooler is a better way to go than one of these kits. consider the cost to refill it each time it runs out and it adds up. nitrous especially, it isn't cheap. plus you never run out of intercooler like you do gas

Don't forget, some of the power gains from the NX/NOS IC spray bars are from the motor injesting the N2O. Civics especially, when a filter is run right off the turbo, it will sit right behind the IC/radiator. When spraying the IC down, some gets sucked in.

i wanna get the co2 kit. i mean with the perrin intercooler and a sprayer i think that would look mighty badass. plus co2 isnt all that expensive, i could prolly get a hook up tho since i play paintball with some people who have the big refiller tanks. the purge would be crucial too. altho with the way my car runs if the intake temps were cooled down alot id prolly hit fuel cut like no other. maybe i should just save for ems haha...

Allright guys....I just received my NX N-tercooler set up and also with an Autometer intake temperature gauge I will be able to see what the intake temperature differences will be with the NX set-up. I will be heading to the dyno within the next week. Will keep you posted.

NX-wooohooo!!!

Awsome I can't wait to see what kind of gains you get! Good luck.

well if the vehicle has a good ems and toys like a j and s that constant keep timing on the brink of detonation than ya it will make a + power difference seeing as how the a/f can be run leaner with the cooler intake charge without detonation. without good tuning its just for keeping the IC from getting heatsoaked. id just run a 25 shot to keep the boost cool if you already bought a bottle.
