assuming there is no traffic it's very friendly ;)

and assuming nobody does anything stupid as well... I'd hate to go fishing for a car that went over the side.

im down to go to either one. v of fire is good until the end of april. there is a 5 dollar charge to go into it because the national parks. A weekend would be best for me. but im down for any time.
 
steve... did you install ur roll bar? i just ordered mine. it will be here either saturday or early next week. also if you dont mind... i would like to find out everything you know about the ecu for our cars. what aftermarket one suggest. do you know about "xede?"
 
anybody know what class my car is in for the autox? i have all the same upgrades as steve except he has the roll bar and i have the intercooler and carbon fiber wing. if it is a big deal i will pull the wing off(its rattling from the subs anyway. i need to fill it with expending foam).

i think you should pull it off for autox... im not sure if it'll class u up

installed it myself and i also installed JP's rollbar (beer)
if you just ordered your rollbar, it should take about 2-3 weeks for it to get to you.

having the wing on your car will class you up to SM2, which is where you'll get killed :) lol if you take the wing off you should be in BSP which you'll still have a good amount of competition :)

if you do the ECU (AEM or Hydra) you'll be moved into SM2 i believe, a piggyback setup (Xcede) i believe will let you stay in BSP. not sure what you wanna know about the ecu's but we won't get that off topic in this thread lol
 
i dont care about the class that the ecu will put me in. i just want to know what one will be best for what i want to do with it. my ultimate goal is 500 rwhp. but iam far from that right now. especially since this is my daily driver. iam trying to get the most for the buck. if i go with the hydra i have the smog problems, if i go with the xeede i cant change my rev limitor or go much more then 250 rwhp. dont know anything about the AEM. what is down falls of the AEM?
 
also i feel funny asking cuz im still new to ur guys group. but from reading the threads from all of you. planning is huge. would it be possible to set up a day for some help with my roll bar when it comes in?
 
where should i go for the helmet. Charter power sports didnt have a clue about what i was talking. all they had was "snell approved"...? i would rather buy one that is good for everything instead of having 2 helmets.
 
carter powersports, being a motorcycle shop, only sells snell M-rated helmets... but i checked out their stock (currently shopping for a helmet myself as the one i was running is too old), and anything thats not one of those nazi style half helmets that was in their store at the time was all m2005 rated, which is auto-x legal. for anything above auto-x, you'll need an SA rated helmet...

I'm currently looking at the g-force pro-force 1, as its in my budget... tho the simpson superbandit for some reason strikes me as super sexy

oh, and i got your voicemail in the middle of the night, figured i shoudln't call you back at 3am w/scca car classing advice... but steve's reply is dead on.

oh... and 500 rwhp is kinda lofty for an mx-5... tho doable with enough disposable income... the tranny and diff. seem to be the weak link above 320ish rwhp.

start another thread and i'll be glad to babble on for hours about what i've learned in my own research while trying to figure out what punishment i want to inflict on my roadster :)

I can't spilt of the indivdual posts....I use to be able to on other forums, but checked with the other mod and you can't do it here.
