Cruise Control?

it's called a brick on the long pedal.
Some guys over on my suzuki samurai off-road site have fabbed up some criuse control set-ups. They also run a hand throttle too the stick shift. I'll search that site and see what I come up with. If you want check those sites. I'm not sure if I'm breaking rules posting other sites, but there not mazda and there not sporty, so.

ive been thinking about that for the longest, what a shame that the MSPs didnt come with cruise control and a Sunroof !!!!

I dont really miss the sunroof so much as the CC out of my old P5. I used to say that I always wanted a sunroof but once I got one I noticed I never really used it. It stayed closed 95% of the time if not more.

I really hate the fact that you cant open the bleeping trunk from outside either when everything is unlocked! I missed being able to open my trunk/hatch without a damn key. I've only had this car for roughly a week and I've already said my choice of words at the trunk! lol

Edit: Is the CC purely controlled by vaccum or by the computer as well? It makes no sense to have all the added upgrades stero/brakes/susp/int/engine and no cc option.

I guess in designing the car they assumed you wouldn't be using the CC in a performance/track car. Isn't that what the MSP was really designed for, street legal version of a mazda track car? That's also why they did away with the Sunroof. There is an extra stability brace in it's place and less weight.

I bought mine (used) and it had cruise control. I hate the damn thing. I think it's run off of vacuum since it gets up to speed and lets off of the gas quite hard. It's quite the jerky pain in the ass. I don't have to drive 80 miles round trip to get to work anymore, so I don't have to worry about it as often, although it would be nice on those long trips... I just move my left foot over and let it do the work for a while. I'd probably use the cruise and like it if the one that I have wasn't such a pain.

i'd need one.. i can't drive 55 without one..

and i cost me dearly not to..

haha I cant do 60-65 without one. The old p5 sure no problem but this thing doesn't even feel like im doign 75-80 when I'm going that fast. Don't know if its the different suspension (p5 had stock and rod ruffer werid I know) or the turbo I really dont notice it that much. Either way I catch myself doing 80ish on the expressway when its supposed to be 45mph! lol

I do sometimes wish I had cruise. I have a hard time going the speed limit without it on long road trips.

i just jam my freaken foot between the gas and the little hump thats down there. instant cruise and no muscle strain.. lol

Could we not just take the CC off of a P5, and install it on our msp? being that it is the same motor and same kidna powertrain i'd think we could probably just swap it in right?

When I bought mine new I asked if a cruise control could be added. I was quoted a price of $1,000 from the Mazda dealer and I passed. I haven't really missed it, same with the sunroof. But I do miss the remote opening trunk.

I would be interested in finding a cruise option for my MSP. I also find myself going straight to 80mph on the highway. The car just loves to go!!! I was a Mazda mechanic and the P5 is so similar it may be a plug and play. The alarm from the MSP is the same as the one you can have put on a P5 so I imagine the cruise would be the same. The controls for the cruise are in the steering wheel so there has to be some type of computer interaction as well as vacuum.

My msp came with an aftermarket CC unit when i bought it. I took it out and trhew it in the woods because Cruise control is gay and highly impractical with a turbo car. All you hear is.......

mmmmmbaaaa sssssssssssss wachooo (bov)
mmmmmbaaaa sssssssssssss wachooo (bov)
mmmmmbaaaa sssssssssssss wachooo (bov)
mmmmmbaaaa sssssssssssss wachooo (bov)
mmmmmbaaaa sssssssssssss wachooo (bov)

It's annoying.

Amen to that, mine's more like gobble gobble gobble at the end though.
it's quite a PITA since it gets up to speed and then just drops off, it's not a constant pressure system on the pedal like my honda was. I begin to wonder if there was some other type of CC kit out there for our cars, and the owner just installed this one b/c it was cheap.
