Cross-Drilled Rotors

Does anyone know of a company that is selling Cross-Drilled Rotors that fit the Mazda 2? It's pretty much impossible to go anywhere in my neck of the woods without going up and down hills, and the stock rotors warped a little on me. I need something that manages heat a little better. Even Cryo rotors would be better than stock, but all I see are OEM replacements on TireRack.com.

These aren't cross drilled or anything fancy but they look like a decent rotor

Right on. Yeah, those are the same ones they have on tirerack.com. The rotors on my car warped relatively quickly... So I'm really looking for something with more heat dissipation. I found these but they're a little pricier... not too bad though.

I'm interested to hear everyone's thoughts on cross-drilled, slotted, dimpled and standard rotors. What does everyone prefer, and are the holes/slots worth the risk of cracking?

Drilled rotor are a waste and bling unless you autocross and want to shave every ounce you can.

The Centric Rotors that TireRack sells are quality parts. I had a set on my previous car and was pleased with their service life. If you are looking to dissipate heat better, look into slotted rotors. Cross drilled rotors will give such a slight difference in temperature, not too mention they tend to become fatigued easier due to the holes drilled in the metal. I would honestly look into a set of higher performance brake pads, Hawk HPS comes to mind. The heat tolerances of those pads are a good touch more than the stock pads, meaning the brakes should be able to handle those mountainous roads better.

+1 for Slotted Rotors. I ran them on my Legacy and definitely plan on upgrading to them on the 2. I've also heard cross-drilled rotors can be more prone to cracking under pressure, as well.

Shoot me a PM if you are still looking for Rotors, Ill see if I can set you up with some quality rotors.

Thanks!

Good stuff.

Totally agree. Go for surface area and mass- rotors are one place where you WANT extra weight. The more heat you can transfer in, the more braking capacity you have. That's only one part of the whole braking equation though...

Centric = Powerslot = Stoptech. Same company. Good stuff.

Thanks for all the responses. You all pretty much backed up what I've heard over time, which is that slots are generally good, holes can be bad, and Hawk pads are superior to stock. I may just grab a pair of Centric rotors and Hawk HPS pads and call it a day.

@HKPRO5 - I'll still send you a PM, but it would be cool to get some details about the rotors in this thread for everyone to see what's available (since it's a pretty small market at this point)

Thanks again.
