so i crashed my '02 red p5 last month...but not really sure of what to do with the car. i got bumped by a drunk driver and ended up head on with the guradrail with the other driver no where to be seen. now my question is this...the damage is easily over 5-6k and my insurance is only liability (MAIF in md) so i dont know whether i should just junk it, part it out, fix it, or donate it somewhere. also, the airbags didn't deploy, which surprised me. i think the engine is fine, but its been pushed back about 6-10 inches, so the radiator is shot. anyway, does anyone know how much i could even hope for from parting it out and really...how i would go about it? feedback appreciated. thanks.

Fix it and sell it. You won't get more than $4-5K if you parted all of it out, and then you're left with an empty car carcass... Up to you though.

liability means that if it is YOUR FAULT in the accident you have to pay for repairs, if its not YOUR FAULT the other guy's insurance should pay to get your vehicle repaired.

In fact, I had liability on my 88 corolla and when it got plastered by the tow truck with no insurance, my insurance paid me out for the value of the car (since it was totalled). So even if the other guy has no insurance your insurance should pay for it.

That's only if you carry "uninsured motorist" coverage. Liability only will NOT pay out if it's the other person's fault...but you don't know who they are...

sorry. He probably could of seen the guy swearving or anything really. There is no way to know if the guy was drunk honestly but he has a good guess. Maybe the Cops got the guy down the road or later that night. The info isn't all there so lets just see what he has to say.

the cops were no help and i dont know anything about the other guy. at this point, you all know as much about him as i do. i uploaded some pics but dont have time to mess with it at this second-im not real familiar with posting pics here.

also, how much would an engine w. around 62k go for?
