Crank pulley and Cam Gears

can any of you confirm that there is more than one "gap" in the teeth of your crank pulley?

thanks!

Well does it look like the crank pulley teeth pictured in the attachment named crank below? Which basically it has 2 gaps (or 3 depending no how you interpret) that are 180 degrees from one another.. one gap is just empty, and the other gap has one tooth in the middle of it... or does the crank pulley on your car look totally different.

Also, does the end of the intake camshaft where it meets the cam sensor have 4 nubs on it like is pictured in the other attachment?

Thanks!

Steve

check the message again i edited it with a pick of what they look like..and i don't know about the cam question

is that really waht they look like? because instead of having gaps, they have solid filled in sections I'm seeing on there.

thats how the stock ones look as well...i will find my stock pully and take a pic of it so you can see that its the same.

definitley helping! :) there used to be pages with oscilliscope wave forms in the manual too.. not seeing them so far in this manual, but it is helping a TON!!

Thanks!

You need the Mazda Service Highlights Manaul. I got mine on ebay a year ago. It should have everything in it you will need.

Yeah, I ordered one, it just isn't here yet... and I needed the info for Microtech earlier than it would arrive.. but we'll be good to go when the install comes up.

so i have a ?...will you be making Cam Gears for both the 2.0 and 2.3L engines? and what kind of price can we expect?

We will try to do so eventually, but that is a lower priority project overall as my sources aren't great for doing those kinds of gears. We will in the long run try to do so, and I will do them for as cheap as I can. It matters a lot how many we do at a time for price... so that will dictate sell, we'll probably do a group buy or something initially to get them cheaper for you guys.. and then gauge from there.

You should look into a cam alignment tool like one that MarcyMotorsports made for the Focus 2.3L
It eliminated the use of adjustable cam gears as it let you adjust the stock ones to what you wanted.
And it cost alot less then cam gears and is not a pain in the ass to install.

the other hurdle too though is that the stock intake cam adjusts 30 degrees on it's own on the 2.3L due to the VVT. You won't want to mess with that more.. but maybe messing with the exhaust cam would be worthwhile. Thanks for the lead AzMz3, I could definitely work on something like that.

You guys have much info on everything involved on your electronic throttle? What happens to the car if you unlug the TPS... completely freak out? or able to limp along?

Once we get through building up the Microtech packages for the Mazda 3, and the internals packages, then the cams will be the next run we'll go after. (so hopefully early summer)
