Cracked Paint :(

Just discovered a small crack breaking open in the paint on my hatch.. Car's not even 10k yet! Should I take this to the dealer and see what they can do? I thought Mazda had better paint than that.

Just a possibility.

There may have been "in transit" damage and a "repair" was done. Happened to a friend of mine many years ago and virtually all of the paint fell off of one fender.

Now is the time to do it since the bumper-to-bumper is 12k. They may not do anything and just write you off. Where manufacturers have owned up to issues in the past was related to paint flaking off or fading.

It was on the rear hatch, i'd say about two or three inches below the badge. But damn, I feel terribly embarrassed. I took it into the dealer this afternoon so they could look at it and give me my options..

The guy at the service counter was thinking it was a crack as well. He says "okay" then proceeds to gets one of the shop techs to get their take... then the tech promptly grabs a wet rag and rubs my crack away with some elbow grease. I had just washed the car yesterday which was how I found the "crack" to begin with. D;

Oh well, my paranoia is at fault here. At least I now know my paint is still good.
