cracked oil housing...problem...

so i just found out i had bought an extended warranty through some company called "the mechanic"- do i maybe have a shot at them fixing the car or are they gonna say the same thing mazda said? (mazda declined warranty coverage for my car)

you really need to get a report by mazda. you have the right to know what reasons they give for the decline of warranty as well as the determined cause of failure. there are circumstances where its totally unsafe and unacceptable to suddenly stop and pull over (i.e highway). the shop you took it too should have insurance to cover instances such as this (should they be found at fault)

heres what i would do. 1) get the final technician's report from your dealer stating the cause of failure and reason why it was declined for warranty. 2) get a second opinion, mazda is going to be partial, replacing an engine is basically the most expensive warranty work there is so if there is any time that they will fight it would be now. 3) after this you should be able to tell who is truly at fault, you, mazda or the shop. with that info is when you decide to a) go back to mazda and fight, b) go back to shop and fight, or c) hire attorney to do either a or b for you or advise in your best interest. this is a big expense and if i truly believed i was not at fault i'd do everything i could to get this situation resolved appropriately.

i talked to the dealer guy n told him i had that extended warranty n he said they were gonna say the same thing mazda said- a couple weeks ago i called my insurance company to find out if my policy covered it n the lady i talked to started a claim n they've been calling me about it but i've been waiting on mazda and on this extended warranty thing but im tired of waiting so i'm calling the insurance company tomorrow and see if they can either pay to fix it or pay for the car (what is worth), then the GAP insurance will cover the rest of the loan. i doubt they'll fix it though.
so to get the tech report i just go to the dealer and ask them for one?
the guys at the shop said if i get the motor they can fix it and bill the guy that did the oil change since apparently he doesnt work for them-
this is all very twisted =(

I suggest getting in touch with a consumer advocacy group to give you some help. Many newspapers and TV stations have someone on staff. They have some power because they can publicize and make the people responsible look bad; they can really be helpful. These guys are going to keep stonewalling you because they see you have no power, but if you can get someone with experience behind you, you will come out on top. Good luck!

yeah ask your service rep for a tech report plus any other reports the may have stating cause , what ever info you can get will strengthen your case, help the attorney should you get one, or at the very lease help you understand what is happening. and getting an engine and they will install it is not an answer. regardless of wether the guy who did this is or isnt an employee anymore, fact is he was at the time and they take responsibility while work is done in their garage. what do you think this guy will say when he gets their bill? what do you think they'll do when he wont pay? yes he will laugh at it and they will ask you to pay. honestly at this point your best bet is an attorney because exhausting all your options ay hurt you and these people know very well that they know more then you and will play you.

good luck with all this its a s*** situation.

the extended warranty people said they're not gonna cover anything that mazda won't cover- then i talked to my insurance and they said they can't cover it cuz its not a collision or anything like that- and now i'm talking to a lawyer and i haven't heard from him yet- the insurance company guy said to go after mazda cuz they should cover it no matter what cuz the car is under warranty- so that's where everything is at right now- just waiting to hear from the lawyer...

Keep trying. Anyway, the insurance guy doesn't know what he's saying regarding the warranty. If your dealer didn't do the oil change, they're not obligated to honor the warranty if another shop was responsible for the oil leak. But sometimes when you keep pushing, things will happen in your favor.

so what's the point in having a warranty if it's gonna exclude certain things and only cover whatever they want- that's dumb...i don't get it =(

Your bumper-to-bumper warranty doesn't cover negligence (or what the dealer perceives to be negligence). For example, if my motor suddenly starts making a noise and I take it in and they see it has low oil, or the oil hasn't been changed in long time they can refuse to work on my car unless I can produce proof it was serviced in a timely manner.

Because you have a warranty doesn't mean everything is automatically covered regardless.

ya they asked for proof to see if it was getting all the oil changes on time etc etc and i had all the receipts for them and they still declined the coverage. why would they ask me for the proof if they were gonna say no anyways? thats dumb..

does anybody know if a mazda 6 2.3L engine will fit in my car? or a 2005-2006 mazda 3 2.3L engine? anybody know where i can find an engine for my car?
thanks guys =)
