Alright guys I need some help. My callaway mani has recently cracked The dealer wants $2600 to replace it. Has anyone else had theres replaced and payed that much. Also they voided my warranty because i have a aftermarket cone filter. Need advice suggestions etc.. and is this price realistic?

go to another dealer...they cant void your warranty for a manifold if they cant prove that a cone filter was a part of the problem...

**** no. even a high end custom manifold would cost somewhere near a grand. a custom manifold replicating the stock msp one should be near $500

one more thing I have an extended warranty through another company. They are the ones who voided my contract.

they have to prove the same thing...a cone filter will not cause a manifold to crack...they are full of s***

i got my manifold replaced for free... i have a cai installed and they didnt even question me bout it... they jus fixed my car and a week later i got it back... it took a week to get the part in, than a couple hours to get it installed... shipped from canada...

Do you Know what the bill would have been by chance?

you could allways pick one up in the FS: forum... they come up every so often for a couple hundred bucks...

unfortunatly the reciept only said *warranty* on all the repairs... no numbers...

i would think it would be alot cuz they gotta get a few things off the manifold to actually get it out and replace it...

When my mani went I didnt even know, the dealer told me about it, ordered the part and fixxed it. You should defanitly go to another dealer because those dickheads are fucken with you.

wat i would do and find somebody that can install one...

than...

purchase an aftermarket manifold and let them install it for cheap... saves u money and u get more hp...

only if your budgeted for it though... expect to spend like i dunno depending on the manifold i'd say $400 - $700 if u find a used one...

if it were me though, i'd purchase an aftermarket one and do all the labor myself... i got an uncle thats an expert in the automotive field so he always guides me on my upgrades...

So your Mazda warranty is up and you purchased an extended warranty though a company like Winns or something?

If thats the case, then they could void it because they do not have to follow the guidelines the MFRS warranty does. Also, most extendeds offered only cover "powertrain" issues which tend to be internal problems in the engine or tranny.

Sorry to hear bro, check out MaM they offer a nice aftermarket mani.

I would be surprised if a welder would try and weld cast iron. It is not an easy thing to do. You must put the whole manifold in a blast furnace and heat it up until its glowing red and then the crack must be welded by sticking the flux rod directly into the crack and the metal fuse together while its still red hot.

yea, there's a welder that does this locally.

In my opinion I still wouldn't do it. Even if you find someone to weld it, you will run the risk of it cracking again, as the weld will still be a weak spot. Then all the money you spent is down the drain.

Just look up some mazda parts recyclers. I found several that have the manifold, anywhere from $250-350 plus shipping.

Welding is fine as long the welder is experienced in patching up cast iron. If the welds suck anything will crack.

dude, if you have 2600 to replace it, look for someone who had gotten an aftermarket mani like i did...mine cracked, and i found one for 150 bucks....

spend the rest on rebuilding the engine :P

shouldn't be more than 150....i think that's a reasonable price

For $2600 you can get the whole Mazdaspeed partial turbo kit from MazdaMotorsports. You get the manifold, turbo and lines. But the Dealer is just f'ng with you, it's a warranty item. Call Mazda USA, there have been several replaced already on this board.

Britt

BTW You can get a Lawyer to write a letter for less than $200 and I would bet your warranty problems will disappear.
