Cracked Cylinder Head

I bought the car used in 2021 with 24,000 miles on it so I am not sure when it was originally driven off the lot. I contacted Mazda North America and asked to have my complaint escalated to a manager. I was told I would hear back from them in the next few days.
If you call ANY mazda dealership service dept with your VIN, they can give you the " in service" date which is when the warranty started for the first owner. It will also show them the " through" date which is when it ends.

Then based on what your CX-5 just a week passed your powertrain warranty? All Mazda dealers can access Mazda’s system and find out the new vehicle delivery date on your CX-5 with the VIN. And MNAO has the same capability to get such information too.

Keep us posted.

Update: Mazda North America just called me and said they reviewed my claim and now I only have to pay $250 out of pocket to have the cylinder head replaced. Much better than $3,000. Thank you to all the members that helped me out. This is a great community!

I'd call that a win!

just received a letter yesterday from Mazda (see attached) saying that my limited powertrain warranty has been extended to 10 years or 120,000. it looks like it will apply to 2016 - 2020 CX-9, 2019 - 2020 CX-5 & 2018 - 2020 Mazda 6 vehicles equipped with a Skyactive-G 2.5T (Turbocharged) engine ("Covered Vehicle").

I'm assuming that this is just extended from your original warranty & not from when they replace the engine. I saw a post on here from a 2016 CX-9 owner who had his engine replaced in 2019 @ 70K & now his new engine is having the same issue, but he's at 150K & they are trying to determine if he qualifies for the extended warranty (I had my 2018 engine replaced in 2022 with 38.5K). All I know is I will probably be looking for another car before this extended warranty ends.

Really hope this happens for Canada too. Just called my dealer and a service advisor said they haven't heard of this yet.

I have a 2017 CX-9 and 47k miles is when my cracked cylinder head was diagnosed in March 2023.
