Are you sure it's a crack and not just a scratch in the tint?

thanks for saying what was on my mind. id think the window would shatter if you hit it hard enough to crack it like that, its not under the pressure like a windsheild so it really wouldnt make sense to be a stress fracture, weather related, if it is, it would be the first ive ever seen or heard.

i think it a crack all the way though.. i can feel it on both sides. and i am the 3rd owner of this car and it has 90000 miles on it so i dont think it is under warrenty..

Ok, here's what's bothering me. Every side window I've ever seen with a significant crack or ding proceeded to rapidly disintegrate into smallish chunks of glass. This is, as I understand it, a safety feature. Yours seems to be just sitting there with a crack like a windshield crack. Are there any markings on the glass? I can't help wondering if this glass might not have been replaced before, and not with the right kind of glass.

no there is no other marking on the glass that i know of at this point but if i see any i will update it on here.

Look near the back lower corner of each side window. Mine are marked
with a few symbols and this text:

DOT23 GN
Nippon
Safety
AS2
NSG.M31.08

i'm in the glass trade and that should be a scratch. from my experience all the glass except the windshield in these cars is tempered glass, which mean it will shatter and not crack. only the windshield will crack. sometimes we get people in that have had an attempted break in and the would be thief has scratched the glass trying to break it. tempered glass is very hard to break straight on but weak at the edges. also if you are in a cold climate and removing ice or snow from the windows with a scraper this can cause bad scratches. hope this helps.

i guess it is just a scratch because i tryed to see if i felt it yesterday on the out side and felt nothing. i guess the scratch is from my bike. lol
