I'm looking to purchase a CPO CX-9 and have a couple of questions about the warranty.

I do a lot of the maintenance work on my cars and wanted to know would I void the warranty if I change the fluids or do light maintenance work on the car? Do I have to have the dealer do the schedule maintenance or can another shop do this?

My other question...in seach for this car I found other dealers like Toyota selling these cars as CPO. I found that they cannot provide Mazda's CPO warranty (7yrs/100k miles powertrain) However they offer a lifetime warranty on the powertrain. Seems that I would be able to bring the car to any Mazda dealer to have it serviced and this separate warranty will cover 100% of the cost. Is anybody familiar with this?

I don't think doing maintenace on your own would void anything. Just make sure to provide a paper trail/receipts so you can prove that you kept the car maintained well.

Just keep the records and receipts. DIY cannot be blamed for warranty issue unless it is related to it.
Take oil change for example, receipts can show what grade of oil you used and how much you used.

Remember a few years back when Toyota had problem with oil sludge issue?
Toyota demanded receipts from all owners to fix the issue if their vehicles were not maintained at dealerships.
