Counterfeit Money

How can I tell if a dollar is counterfeit? It was mailed to me with a car survey but it left a smudge of itself on the return envelope. I didn't think money was supposed to do that.

who cares. go to your local deli and buy a stick of gum. instant laundery. lol

there r lines ans transparent s*** that only hows at angles, but do what vindication said, worked for me in the past (cool)

if you are honestly concerned about it, go to your local corner store and ask them to use the "marker" on it. It is what they use on larger bills to see if they are real or fake, the ink in the "marker" reacts differently with real money than it does with fake...as I am sure you know. Than if it is fake, call the police and be like "Hey, might wanna check this out!"

there should be little red and blue fibers in the paper too, but if its a buck don't worry about it

stick it in vending machine get a pepsi, win an iTunes song and voila - n a sense you just pirated music

You have to think, why would anyone send real money in the mail? Especially a surveyer. (Actually, some dumbasses really do send cash in the mail.)

Actually I have seen cash in the mail with a survey before. The thinking is that since you have the cash in hand you will feel like you need to fill out the survey for them.

Of course if the survey came from your local stealership I would get it checked anyway.

and then they'll figure you're counterfitting your own bills and was testing to see how well you do against the marker test :) you forget the american dream: guilty until proven innocent!! :D

That's the whole point! no one checks $1 dollar bills. That's why I do it. Sure it might take a little longer to make $1million, but I have a pile of it at home. I use it for McD's, gas, 7-11, etc. :D Make sure to wad it up, and maybe run it through the dryer a little. When's the last time you saw someone look at you strange because you had some wadded up 1-dollar bills in your pocket? it all ads up :D

I have a counterfeit Loonie (Canadas $1 coin), some guy was making them about 7-10 years ago and I have one. Nice little souvenir.

Easy. Go to your local law enforcement office and have them check it. We have ultriviolet/black lights that should be able to determine if its counterfeit or not. There are also special ink pens that when marked on the bill, turn black on the paper. If you use the money knowing it may be counterfeit, you could be guilty of fraud if you intend to use it to buy anything. Dont take the chance and go have it checked. Simple as that.

I've been able to check $20 counterfeit bills and checks since this is the easiest ones and used the most by con artists. But the $1 bill has less security features, so it may be a little harder to detect. Just fyi.

I have it narrowed down to 2 tests.

1. I stick it in a vending machine. If it works, I get a free drink and virtually zero chance of getting "caught".

2. I set it on fire. If the flame is RED, it's counterfeit. (Thanks Chris Tucker)
