Could our TMIC be installed as a FMIC?

Alright this thread has gone on long enough.

This is a pointless and frivolous idea. First of all, the inlet and outlets on a TMIC are facing the wrong direction and you'd waste more time and money trying to fit and run the piping than if you were to buy a $300 FMIC kit on ebay. Not only that but you're going to have so many bends and twists in the piping it will probably induce turbo lag.

Second, a big square intercooler is not the least bit ideal of a shape to effectively cool the charge any better than a TMIC - stick that square behind a bumper with a rectangular opening only half the height and you're going to lose a lot of what makes an FMIC efficient, plus it's going to hinder airflow to the radiator that much more than a rectangular core.

If you want an FMIC, buy a cheap one on ebay and I guarantee it will function 10x better than sticking a TMIC in your bumper.

srt just cause you think a thread is not important to you doesnt mean it isnt a worthwhile thread. This very thread is getting people to think outside the box and better than alot of threads on this forum.
If you dont like it dont open in it and most impotantly don't thread crap in it....

If you'd rather pass up actual constructive criticism for unquestioned praise and affirmation, put that in the first post as a disclaimer. Until you do, I'm here to tell you why this is a pointless idea and will cost more time and money to make work than a simple aftermarket solution.

1/4 of the posts in this thread that say its a good idea are just screwing with you anyways, in case you're not on "other" MS3 forums.

If the OP asks if something will work, I'm going to respond with my knowledge and experience in the matter whether it's positive or negative. Don't tell me I'm thread crapping when I'm at least providing factual information.

he has a point tho...how exactly do you plan to get around the way the outlet pipes are facing on the intercooler? His pipes in the front of the car would look like S curves, and would kill efficiency for sure. I think its smarter to just get a PG kit and call it a day, or a ebay intercooler with custom piping kit.

Props/Kudos for thinking outside of the box, tho!
