Just e-mailed cosworth the other day to ask some questions (am looking to start building an NA beast) and was curious as to what parts will and won't bolt on to our version of the duretec 2.3l.

Derek,
Thank you for your interest in our 2.3L Duratec parts.
As per your question, yes, our rods, pistons and manifold will fit
the Mazda version of the 2.3l engine. At this time, we do not offer
a "tune" for the ECU or a cold air kit. We are looking into cams for the

VVT engine and hope to have more information soon.
I will mail out our new catalog of Duratec parts to your
address below.

Please feel free to contact me with any questions.

Thanks.

if any of you have looked at thier catalog lately they have some amazing bolt ons and claim over 240hp (whp or bhp i can't remember) with thier stage III kit. some pretty impressive numbers for an NA 4banger. i am going to inquire about the flywheel and some other parts but i would think with your own intake and exhaust and header (draxas being the only header option so far) you could bolt on the manifold then add the pistons and rods and get the mpi tuner from corksport and have yourself 200+ with out turbo.... add the quiafe lsd to get that traction down and some light wieght rims with some sticky ass tires and you have yourself quite the lil street demon!!!

yeah i knew they were available but all i have been told about fitment was ummm we think so... so i decided to ask the source itself, and while i was parousing (sp) thier site i found a lot of other things that would make my 2.3l "decimate all" hehe just thought i would share my findings with the forum was all....

(2thumbs) Thank you for doing that i was just adding a link.

yeah corksport is the only dealer i know of in the mazda world that sells cosworth, but i am sure you could find other cosworth dealers on the web, or localy even. also i would deffinatly like to see what they can do for a set of cams for our engine that would sweet!!!

I'm guessing you got the email from Kenneth over at Cosworth? I've talked to him a few times since September, just before they released the D-Power lineup for the Duratec. I was able to talk to him (Ken) in person at the Mazdafest event (actually Sunday at FocusChallenge) and he said they were waiting on the 2.0 and the 2.3 MZR's to arrive at their shop. Aside from the obvious tuning issue, he also said that intake manifold holes were a hair off he's told, but couldn't confirm himself. Internals are a no brainer, but there's no way to really adjust for it yet, so no big rush to upgrade. FocusSport has some good prices on stuff for those looking, and Randy over there is pretty personable. Cosworth is only 25 min away for me, so i've been hounding Ken to get some test pieces goin, but still nothing to test.

I can say that the 2 foci they had at the track with the stage 2 pieces on sounded sweet!! I was trying to find times to compare to, but don't think Redline posted any for sunday?

Where are they located? I'm not too far from you.

sweet nice info man... to bad about the mani being off, if i get it i am sure i would be able to make the proper adj in the machine shop.... though it would be sweet if they produced a line strictly for the mzr motor....
