eunos cosmo type s 20b
Hi Guys,

I am after a bit of help,, just imported a 13b Cosmo from Japan took it out for a spin to the garage to get some fuel while the boys in blue were not watching, I noticed a judder from the brakes (felt like warped brakes) checked them when I got back no discolouring in fact discs look pretty new not lipped no surface rust on edges in fact pretty mint,,
what I am after does anybody know the part numbers of the discs or an equivalant mazda model with the same discs as my local parts supplier or Mazda dealer come to that will not ven have heard of a Eunos Cosmo,, this is just in case I need to change them worst case and all that

Thanks
Frank

want to get all the measurements and numbers on the rotors.
i can cross reference and let you know if something off another car fits.
only project mu make a direct cosmo replacement. a bit expensive just for rotors.
offset everything really.

don't know if the discs are the same size on 13b as 20b but i had the same judder in my brakes when i got the car and i was able to get replacements from here; http://www.3gbrakes.co.uk/discs.htm
i measured the discs and used this site; link to compare measurements, and found that the 98-02 626 2.0 (gf/gw) has the same size discs, so the 3g dealer was able to get me discs for that model. (black diamond part no.; kbd1160) don't order the pads that are listed for that model as they don't fit, i did.
here's a pic of the label on the box

they were easy to replace and made a big difference to the feel of the car, although i had warped rears aswell, not as easy to replace so i got them machined on the car.

Also its worth double checking that the discs are the problem.

AND if I recall correctly, the front breaks are of a 929 and the rears are off the 626. So anything that fits those cars will fit the Cosmo with out too much trouble.

I know the standard Mazda 6 breaks fit in a 95 MX6, so I'm sure its not too hard to fit better breaks in the Cosmo.

should be able to get to the bottom of the problem soon,,
could be simple fix but worth knowing which replacement discs will fit if required

thanks guys

In North America those rotors should be the same as the Mazdaspeed Protege and the 98-02 Mazda 626 with the larger brake option.

I got mine measured not 100% accurate as the rotors weren't removed.
the mechanic measured 270 i got 274 for overall diameter. total height of 45 and rotor thickness of 24.
would you still have the measurements you took?

can someone find me a replacement here www.dba.com.au
you can punch in diameter size. or search by model. the mazda 6 you guys are talking about isn't sold here.

the closest i could find are.
http://dba.com.au/products/dba2950
which are off an australian mazda 6 02' onwards. 2.3L DOHC MZR
and australia's mazda's have different spec brakes compared too everywhere else.

i may buy a regular cheap rotor just to see if it fits then buy these.
http://www.ebcbrakes.com.au/index.php/rotors.html i kind of like their Gold Passivated Turbo Grooved Sports Rotors
otherwise i believe project mu have a direct replacement.
this really sucks as the variation is so minimal
