Corksport front bar noise?

Is it normal for the poly bushings to make noise, or do I need to get in there and grease some more? I greased them up pretty good during the install with brake grease, but over slow bumps it creaks pretty loudly. It's loosened up a bit with time, but in the supermarket over the speed bumps it's still pretty loud. Just wondering if others have that noise too -- not that big of a deal considering the handling improvement, but it does sound a bit strange for this new looking car to creak like a jalopy at times. lol

Thanks,
Jonathan

I haven't had time to install mine yet, unfortunately. Have you tried pumping some more grease through the zerk fittings? Also check your endlink connections again, if they are loose you may need to put a drop of locktite on there. I'm planning on using the included energy suspension lube for the bushings rather than brake grease. In the past I've only used the energy suspension stuff or anti-seize...and I've never had any noise from the bushings.

pull the bushings out, clean them up REALLY good, then wrap the bar with teflon tape where the bushings go, and re-install the bushings. i've had my rear sway bar installed this way for over a year with no noises.

Yours came with lube?

I'm going to try pumping more in through the zerk fittings and see if that helps.

OP, I will send you a couple tubes of the energy grease.

Thanks Derrick! And thanks to you and the guys at Corksport for being such a stand up company AND making my car SO much better! I liked it before the mods began, and LOVE it now!

This is the best advice in here, I always use teflon tape in conjunction with generous amounts of grease on swaybar bushings. Long term the tape makes a huge difference in staying lubed up.

FYI: with the tape, you don't need the grease. just wrap it REALLY good under the bushing, and it will be good for a looong time.

I disagree you have to use grease, You should either use just grease or grease + teflon tape but either way everything should be properly lubed. Suspension components need to able to move freely without binding to function properly.

that's the beauty of the teflon tape. teflon is naturally slippery, and doesn't require additional grease. like i mentioned above, i wrapped my bar with plumbers tape last fall, and have yet to have any rattles or squeaks from the bushings. when i was greasing them, i had to reapply the grease every 3-4 months due to the bushings starting to rattle and squeak.

Check this for a list of some of its properties:

another point of interest... due to the properties of teflon, mazda used the material for the manual transmission shifter pivot bushings in the protege.

That's very interesting. I have to work with a lot of UHMW plastics custom fabricating pieces angles and blocks for bearings. My gears are turning as to what types of things I can make for my Mazda 2 :-).

My Bar definitely squeaked after install. My dealer installed it and i had them throw a bit more grease on it the next time i was in. Hasn't been an issue since!
