So I was one of the victims of a faulty CS Exhaust. The weld on the resonator failed causing it to come apart. I notfied CS and they were sending out replacements. They told me they were getting the shipment to them on the 16th of May. I was hoping to get it by the 22nd for my auto-x event. I get a call on the 24th saying their shipment came in late, and the stuff that came in wasn't put together. They are putting a flex pipe section on the mid-pipe. The options they offered were (1) receive the 2 parts and take it to a exhaust shop to have the flexpipe welded it and be reimbursed or (2) wait for the next shipment. I told them that I didn't have time to take my exhaust to a shop and that I didn't want to wait again. So Travis offered to have it welded in shop at Corksport. He e-mailed me a picture of the finished product [see attached]. What do you think of the quality of the welds?

Personally, Ive seen better welds, but as long as it hold up until you receive the new section, it truly doesnt matter. Also, I am not going to purchase this exhaust...the sound is great, but its not worth the hassle of waiting on a new part to come in. Good luck though and at least its fixed.....for now ;) ;)

it justs looks MIG'd instead of TIG'd like the rest of it. I guess CS doesn't have an in-house TIG. no big deal though, it should hold plenty fine.

that exhaust was welded in house. New resonator, new flex pipe, used mid-pipe piping.

That is not the new exhaust as I explained over the phone. That is the exhaust that I put together for you on my day off. I was simply trying to help you out so you would not have to wait so long. No I am not a great welder which is why I don't work in the shop.
IF you had questions about it you could have contacted me. That is the reason I sent you the picture.
I don't feel this forum is a very good place to start if you have issues with me or a product, but thanks.

I didn't mean to imply anything. I don't know that much about welds, I was posting the picture to see if the welds looked good to others. It was the weld that failed on the last exahaust, so that is what I'm most concerned about.

How tight did you have the springs when you installed the exhaust? I have had that exhaust on my car for over 2 years and it has not broke yet. Its meant to flex at that joint thats why the stock exhaust does not have a flex pipe in it. So if it cant flex its going to try and flex at the weakest point.

looks better than what I could do..... as long as it holds :) waiting to get mine...

is there going to be a version 2? i was going to get this exhaust but i heard about the faulty welds, but if a whole new batch is coming out i might just go with yours instead of the greddy evo2.

The picture above is the ugly version of what the new exhaust will be, with all new pieces including the flex pipe and pretty welds.

so there is going to be a replacement exhaust? when can i order? and whats the difference in this one and the old one?

the new one now uses a new resonator & a flex pipe. the old one had neither of these.
